Hey, this is my first post. This is also my first venture into overclocking. So far all I have done is boost my 1.333ghz to 1.4ghz via the FSB.
Anyway, is a 300w PSU enough for the following hardware if I start to up the voltage on my cpu?
2 internal hard drives
1 internal DVD
1 internal CDRW
3 80-90mm case fans
1 agp voodoo5 card
1 pci sound blaster live! card
1 pci network card
256mb pc2100 ddr ram
and of course a sturdy cpu fan

I would personally consider higher than 300 w especially if your PSU is not a known quality make

Anybody have anything bad to say about the Enermax 430watt? I'm thinking about buying that to replace this generic one.
First, let me say Welcome to our forum!
I think a 300 watt power supply would be the bare minimum you could run that setup with. You might want to look into a little bit larger one. Enermax makes good supplies as does Antec. I have a 431 watt Enermax and it suits me fine.

Thanks for the replies. You pretty much confirmed what I already suspected. This forum appears to be very active with some good information being shared. I'm brand new to overclocking, so I'll have plenty of questions. I'll try not to ask them all at once. ;-)

I have a question about my PSU also. Right now, I have a 300 watt A-1 power supply running my specs below, plus these things:
1. DVD drive
2. 52x CD-Rom drive
3. 2 case fans
Specs on the power supply are:
+3.3V=14A 3.3V and +5 Max output:160 W
+5V=25A Total Max: 300W
+12V 10A
When I do a T-Bird 1.33 @ 2.0v watercooled (don't know speed yet :)), am I going to need a larger power supply? Right now, I have gone two weeks full load without freezing or crashing once, but I think maybe when I require that much power, I may need more. What are your thoughts?

Whoops!!! Here are my specs below.
It will work, but you'll be running your supply at it's max output and it will run a little hotter. I personally like to have a little extra juice available in case I need it and also so the power supply isn't running it's little transistors off. More is better and it wont hurt to have more than you need available.

Hehehehe. I know you have plenty to spare. Wanna send a few extra watts over my way??

What kind of problems could be expected running too small a PSU?

Heh, actually, living in California, I'm gonna sell my extra power to the electric company. ;D ;D ;D

I would personally recommend u to buy a much higher PSU if u want no problems.
my system is a 1.2Ghz Tbird and i'm using a 461watt enermax and it is supa
so i think u should use a 461watt enermax is good 4 ur system
if u think it'z a bit too pricey for u then use a 350watt but i promise that u'll regret afta gettin it
