I have a dell poweredge 4200, dual 333 mhz P2, 384 megs ram, 3 - 9 gig scsi ,ami raid card. it has a 66 mhz fsb. could i get a slot 1 to sockey 370 convertor and run dual 700 mhz celerons? the 700 mhz celerons have a 66mhz fsb, so it should work? also can you run the cerlerons dual? im new to dual cpu systems . any help would be nice. thanks.

You will have to check the board manual to see what it supports. AFAIK only Cellys up to 366MHz are SMP capable.

Motherboard support permitting, I think your best bet is dual P!!!s.

what p3 runs at 66mhz fsb.? thats all the board supports. all i use it for is my web site and file storage. but i figure if i could find a faster cpu to put in it i could use it for a game server

Doh, sorry, forgot that you could only use a 66MHz FSB. I doubt you will get much faster than PII-333s or Celly-366s in that machine.

Depending on the PSU, could you not possibly replace the board with a dual S370 board that supports 100 or 133Mhz FSB and stick a couple P3s in it? It would cost a bit more though.

ya i thought about that. it has a 700 watt psu in it. im sure that it could handle it lol. i was trying for a low cost solution. but i guess that ill have to stick with the dual p2 for awhile yet. thanx for the info .
