i fried my 1.4ghz chip, so i installed a 1.33ghz chip and i cant boot at 1.33 it says i still have my 1.4 installed when i goto the cpu clock speed settings, i get blue screens in windows when its at 1.33 and it is a 1.33!! and my temps went up to like 60c!!! anyone know whats going on, i also reflashed my bios and no luck...

since noone has answered ill take a long shot at this. have you tried reseting your CMOS?

I assume you've tried just doing the cpu defaults in bios?

also, I assume you've tried making the settings in bios match those of the chip?

if that doesn't work, I'm lost for an answer...

hmmm...what is your motherboard? It it just BIOS or is there jumpers involved ? the 1.4 was probably a FSB266, did you verify the 1.3 to be a FSB266 as well? the first thing that popped into my head was that the HSF is not making proper contact on the cpu which caused it to have the sudden jump in temp and causing Winodws to become unstable at blue screen

WELL I actually got it to work past 1050mhz now, im at 1.5ghz now stable with temps at 39-40c.. but when i goto bios and to cpu speed it gives me a list of like 20 diffent speeds from like 300mhz to 1066, still dont have the default 1333 for some reason!? wonder if i can get this 1.33 over 1.6 like my 1.4,, owell my new 1.4 should be here friday, since i got an rma for the one i fried, how i can get over 1.65 with it like the old one i had, which i dont see a problem cauz every chip i have put in here i have oc'ed quite high..
