I have Arctic Silver all over my Duron. It's not over the
L1 and neighboring bridges, but it's all over the rest. I cleaned my core to put my new cak38, but could not
clean anything else. I guess this all started with this:

I POSTED THIS TOO: AMD MOTHERBOARDS:
I'm a little frustrated, I just got my new cak38 and can
only increase my cpu by 50mhz.(900-950) I was
wondering if there was anyway to increase the core
volts past the 1.850 on the KT7A. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Could this be because I used the pencil, if so can
I erase the pencil and use either the defogger kit
or conductive pen. SORRY IF I'M ALL SCATTERED
BRAINED, BUT I'M KINDA DISAPPOINTED!
THANKS FOR ANY REPLIES!!

Sookhook...have you tried adjusting some other settings in your BIOS to try to aid in the overclock...ie...making sure you leave you memory timings alone. Start your 'puter...go into the BIOS...select "Load Optimized Defaults" and then reboot back into the BIOS.

Now...just try adjusting the FSB...don't mess w/ the multiplier initially. Regardless of what most people say...I think Durons work best w/ FSB adjustments. Start w/ Optimized defaults and then go from there. You might just have a bum chip as well...but don't give up yet.

to clean the AS off use some acetone, but be careful, as It will take the bridge stuff off too.

It sounds as if your Duron is not unlocked the best pencil to use i believe is a 2B, although i would suggest the defogger kit for a more permanent solution. (details of this can be found on the front of overclockers.com)
The voltage of the Abit KT7A-Raid can be increased with a modification details of which can be found on http://www.tweakhardware.com although I do not think voltage is your problem. When applying artic silver use a very small amount, I drag over the core with a credit card to apply thinly.

The Duron originally is a 700, so I already have
it overclocked to 900. I went to the cpu database and
printed out every one to the highest to lowest. I tried every
setting that was compatible with my Abit mobo. The fastest
setting I found was 8.5x112/37. I must have tried at least
20 different settings. This is what really stumps me, I
can't increase the setting FSB PLUS( I think it goes to 1-28) even to 1+. I see a lot of 9.5x105 or7.5x133 or even
7x140. It only seems to work with an even fsb like what
I'm running right now.(9.5x100) And my temps are fine!
PLEASE ANY HELP!
