Ok, I just recently threw away my PIII 500 finally and upgraded my old Alienware. I threw in my new fangled Abit KT7A-RAID and 1.4 Tbird. After alot of freaking out at first boot at full speed (was running about 60C), I was forced to downclock to 1.0 till i solved my cooling problem. I currently have the new DigiDoc5 pluged in with a sensor touching the die, one in the heatsink, and the other floating in the case. Currently, under a system load (not full gaming load), Im only doing 38.4C on die (after alot of case tweaking to get a decent airflow out).
Im not sure if this is a problem or not, to any of you out there with Globalwin WBK38, perhaps you can answer this: I installed the HSF and started going at it, with high temps. I looked inside and observed (with my hand) that air wasnt blowing out from the HSF fan. So I took it all off and turned the fan around and now its blowing away from the heatsink. Are the Globalwins supposed to blow the hot air onto the heatsink, or pull it off? From what I remember, its supposed to pull it off. I dont know if its a manufacture goof or Im just behind in the times.. Anyone?
