I have my duron 700@900 right now and wondering how long will it last if all temps are kept half descent?

Well, there isn't a definite answer, but keep in mind that for every 20 degrees C you lower your chips temperature, you'll double it's life. Lots of variances affect it

Hey micron, I also have a duron 700. What settings are you set at on your chip? What are your system specs?

I had a Duron 700 @ 900 for three months running just fine. I passed it on to my brother and it is still working fine. As long as the temps stay fine, I can't see why it wouldn't run for a very long time.

For instance I have a Celeron 366 processor that I have had overclocked to 500MHz for quite some time (over a year) and it still keeps on working great.

Like everyone else says it depends on the processor itself and the cooling. The yield of the processor can make a difference. I would say by the yields AMD was getting with the early Duron's that running it at that speed shouldn't be an issue.

Read the other post about heat, that may help too. Oh btw its a decrease of every 10ºC not 20ºC that doubles life of computer components.

Hey Milkren, longtime no see. :) Anyhow, as long as you keep those temps below 50'C, or ideally, under 45'C, you should be ok for quite sometime. I wouldnt worry about it. I have had my Athlon all over the place since the day I got it 6 months ago and it still chuggin along like a champ. Happy OCing my friend, see ya.

Duron 700
10 months old (paid $112 for it)-that sucks!!
Been OCed from day one
3 days ago it was put into a new A7v133 and is now running stable @ 133*7.0
I'm beginning to think I can't hurt it cause it's been removed and reinstalled about a dozen times and has 3 dirrerent HSF on it.

BTW, I unlocked it about 3 months after I got it.

I got my Duron in Dec. 2000, so it have been running overclocked for about a half year now, and still no prob's.
So what are ur temp's, Mikren?

unless something catastrophic happens, (hsf comes off, etc) most of these chips will last until they're obselete if not longer.

EaglescoutAll settings are at default except of course the multiplier 9x100 and still stuck with that cheap coolermaster hsf. Temps underload @ 48 to 49c

Providing you have resonable tempratures, I would expect the CPU to go out of date, and be no longer of use to you.. long before its life expectancy becomes an issue
