Hi! A friend of mine has an AYHJA Athlon T-bird 1.33 GHZ 266 FSB cpu that is brand new. It's RETAIL(not OEM) still in the box. He said he'd sell it to me for $160.00. Is this a good deal? I plan to build my own system and possibly o/c. I'll be using the EPOX 8K7A mobo with 2- 256 mb Crucial ddr pc2100 sticks (only things I got so far). Will this cpu work well with this board? Can I get the numbers pretty high with this combo? (I realize every cpu is different as far as speed-- just looking for a general experienced answer). By the way, I was thinking of getting a Gladiator hsf to use. Would you guys recommend it? Would it be able to sufficiently cool an o/c'ed 1.33 T-bird? I've got a 350w psu. All info will be appreciated. Thanks guys!!!

To check the price, you can go to pricewatch.com to see comparable prices. As far as I know that chip should go great with that board. I can't recall anything I've heard about that hsf, so your guess is as good as mine ;-) that psu should be sufficient as long as you don't hook too much stuff up to it.

anyways, good luck and have fun!

All sounds cool to me - I don't know about prices in the US, but that sounds pretty reasonable for a 1.33gig 266 chip, and being an AYHJA it ought to perform pretty well! The psu will be fine, I can't see you needing more than 350W.

As for the hsf, I think I have heard of a 'gladiator', but I can't remember much about it. I don't know whether it's a typo for 'Glaciator' (probably not, cos I think there is a 'Gladiator out there too'), but either way I strongly suggest looking at the Glaciator. It seems to deliver pretty much top performance at lower noise levels than the alternatives, and it's not too pricey.

It is a solid deal you can get a 1.33 for about 130 now but that is oem without shipping and if he is giving you a retail then that is a good deal bargain a little he will probably go down to 150 if you mention pricewatch. hehehe.
