so i reapplied the pencil,...but it wouldnt o/c anymore,..hmm,..so tonite i cleaned the L1 bridges and put some Defogger kit repair paint on,...still no luck!
and im shure the paint isnt touching,...

anyone know what could be wrong here ??

Welcome to the forum!

So you can't change the multiplier or the fsb at all? If that's the case, then I'm lost to as what would cause that. If that isn't it, the only I can think of is that you might need to redo the bridges yet again. I had to do the pencil job about 5 times before I got it right on my friends 1 gig... (then the hsf came off and fried it)

anyways, In either case, I think I would try to redo your paint job.

good luck

oh and one more question: how much paint has to be on there to be conductive ?? and does it have to be nice and smooth (like 1 glob right on)
?

thx

update:
i took the paint off with nailpolish remover,... and did the pencil trick again,....still no success,..on boot it just stays black when i raise the Multiplier,... Vcore @ 1.800, FSB @ 100, Multiplier @ 7 (default = 6.5)

hmm i really dunno, i took the CPU out 3 times and redid the pencil job,.. :(

I'm a newbie also, so take this as a grain of salt but have you used the "same" pencil every time thus far?

Get another pencil.......the reason I say this is because I tried the pencil trick two day ago.....didn't work....

Went to the store, bought brand new, #2 mechanical pencils, (no environmentaly friendly bull****) and tried it again......damn,,,,,,,,works like a charm now.....
Get the "full of lead" pencils.......hehe

Just a thought

I do not like the pencil trick. Many have posted or have told me about problems getting it right or it wearing off. There is also the high resistivity. I used a conductive pen on mine. Sometimes you miss or get an air bubble in the paint.
There are 2 methods I like. One is to tape off one bridge at a time, paint it and let it dry before you do another. What I did mine with dried to the touch in 10 minutes and cured in about an hour. The other method is to carefully dab it on with a toothpick or piece of thin wire.
Do not be surprised if it does not work on the first time, there are many things that could go wrong. Just clean it off and try again. You should have seen the mess I made when I first did it, tried it freehand with the pen.
