I am getting another K7D mb. I used bartons on my last dual athlon system but I don't really see the benifits of the extra cache. So I am planning to get some T-bred Bs to save some money. I don't know what speed/stepping I should get them at for the best overclock yet being on a budget. Any recomendations?

either the 1800's, 2100's or the applebreds with L2 mods

all revision "b" of course....and newegg.com

I would def recommend the 2100s, even at stock speeeds they are fast, and they can be had for about 105 for a pair, that will save you about 80 dolalrs over the bartons and will almost 100% reach the same speeds in clock cycles

I agree with you about the bartons, I am sure that the bonus in the larger cache is there with some apps, but overall I think the difference is VERY negligible for our regular day to day uses.

I'd say go for a pair of 1700's, you could get 2 for about the price of one 2100, and have a really decent shot for around 2.25 GHz (15*150).

I have DUT3C Tbred B 1700+s and they hit 1733MHz at 0.15v below stock voltage. 2 GHz is almost a dead cert with 1700+ TBredBs.

heh getting "great" overclocks in dual is a gamble. I personally have 2 Tbred B 1700s DLT3C JIUHB 0324 and I can't even get over 2.2Ghz. whereas other people in the same setup hit over 2.5 without problems.

Are all the 1700+ and 2100+ chips on Newegg the "B"s??
Right now the 2100+ is actually $3 cheaper then the 1700+, I had very good experiences with the 2100+ in the past, I think I might order a pair today

EDIT: I guess if I could read I would see it says "Revision B" on the specs hehe
