View Full Version : System seems stable but Prime95 gives errors???
After a couple weeks of very stable operation I ran Prime95 for the first time.
I ran the 'Torture Test' and got a 'FATAL ERROR' after test 6 or 36. Then I ran the 'Self Test' and got some math error after test 4 of 36. What does this mean? I can run UT for hours without problems. My system seems quite stable otherwise.

It means that you are too high. I don't consider my computer stable unless it passes Prime95 Torture plenty of times. What it sounds like is that your CPU is heating up after a couple of tests, and is causing instability.

then it ain't stable! But you are probably stable enough so i wouldn't do anything. You shouldn't be getting those errors with that HSF though.
I dropped back to 1377 (145 x 9.5) at 1.85v and ran Prime95 torture text for hours without any errors. I may just keep it at 1377. It would probably be stable at 1410 & 1.95v but at 1377 & 1.85v the CPU puts out 10 watts of heat LESS and my load temps drop from 50C to 43C. It won't go any higher than 1377 at 1.85v. I'm thinking that less heat is better and an extra 40 or so Mhz really isn't going to make much of a difference for anything.
The overclocker in me is rather disappointed with this 1200 AVIA-9 chip. It just doesn't seem to have the clock speed potention the AVIA-Y has. I was expecting to get near 1500 with an AVIA but it looks like I'm barely able to hit 1400 :(
