Will memtest86 work on an AMD computer? I know it's meant to test x86's (intel chips), but will it still work if I use it to test the RAM on my AMD system (I'm using a barton 2500+ chip)?

Yes, intel and AMD have many cross liscensed patents. All AMD CPUs that I know of are x86 (except the k8, which is still sort of x86). I run memtest86 all the time on amd based systems.
