First of all here are my stats:

ASUS A7A266
Duron 750 @ 933 1.725v (7X133)
3dFX VooDoo3
128mb PC133 CAS2 up to 140

I have done the voltage mod to the chip itslef giving me 1.888v, and i can't be stable @ 1ghz, either 10X100, 7.5X133, or anything. I am thinking that my cooling is ther problem. But that is a whole other story.

My tempature is always the same. Unless i full load, then it will go up about 2-3C, and never come back down! I am using a no name heatsink, it is pretty big. I have a 80mm delta @ 25V on top blowing at it.

Is there a voltage mod that i can do to get up to 2v-2.1? Could it be my power supply that is the problem? It is 250watt ATX. I know that you guys recommend something more than 300watts, but it has been working fine.

Thanx alot, I am loving this new system! AMD ROCKS THE HOUSE.....It is sooo much faster than anything i have expierenced before.

I had a 600Celeron @ 1ghz on a ABIT BF6, and it scored 1575 in 3dmark2001 with a 3dfx voodoo3. Now with my duron @ 966, i got a score of 1736. with the duron, there were no tweaks. With the celeron i had the video overclocked, and a couple of tweaks.

I am guessing your heatsink is holding you back. Are you using thermal compound or thermal tape. What are your temps at? I don't know of a voltage mod for the A7A but I wouldn't do it unless you get better cooling. I bet you will get a gig with a decent heatsink.

I can't even tell my temps! My stupid thing doesn't work right.

This is horrible!!! This means right now the most volts i can get it 1.888??? That SUX!

yea, without voltage mod max is 1.888volt

i dun think most of the 750 will hit 1ghz.......at least i see a few ppl cant do it....me too.....

Not to worry this 750 is temporary until i get my 1ghz AXIA -y- with a SVC golden gate heatsink which can be seen here-www.svcompucycle.com-

Hey that Golden gate heatsink looks like a pretty good deal for $20. Wow and the pep66 is only $27 with a 38 cfm fan.

Hey carmine...I'm not familar w/ your board but...I have a AKCA 750 that's running 100% Stable at 1Gig. Using a CAK38 for cooling. I have a stick of standard PC133 CAS2 memory but...I have to run it at CAS 3 to hit a gig.

If your running a Via chipset (don't have time to look at the board specs...sorry)...Boot into the BIOS...select "Load Optimized" defaults....or similar....then leave the multiplier at 7.5, FSB at 133 and voltage at max current setting...and give it a sot. I'm running a Abit KT7AR @ 1.85 to get a gig. You have a power supply @ 300w or higher right? Good luck!!!!

Hi there,

according to Anandtech and other websites the Duron is initialized with it's default settings on bootup, regardless if unlocked or not, it will always start with 7,5 multiplier, 1.6 VCore and the FSB you've set the board to.

Those settings are changed during the POST.

That means your Duron may be unable to sustain the speed you tried to push it to, as was the case with mine.... this green 600 MHz baby wouldn't POST most of the time, until I hard soldered the bridges to a default core of 1.80 volts (see http://www.tomshardware.com for details).

Then I set my MSI mobo to 133 FSB, the multiplier to 7.5 and left the VCore at 1.8 volts....

POST, boot, 3DMark2K1, Counter-Strike, Q3 ...

STABLE.

A little hot, though... around 65°C under load.

And a gig to brag with *whoot whoot*

Hope that helps a litte, drop me a mail if you need more.

Well I am Extremely happy to say YEA!!!! It just needs to be burned in some more. I got it 2 days ago, and thats all it needs. Last night for 5 hours, i burned it in using Sisoft Sandra burn in wizard. Acordding to my temp (stupid thermistitor) i am full loading @ 55C. And according to some people, it is really 10C over what it is. So i am guessing that i am full loading @ 45C.

ANYWAY....

This morning after 5 hours or burnin, i tried 3dmark2001 again (this is with Mult. 6, and fsb 166 CAS3 HAHAHA 1.85v) It looped 3 times, and then quit back to the desktop. So i am burning in again, and we will see if she holds stable! I am sooo happy.

Also my chip is freaking me out. I erased the voltage mod to 1.85v, and when i booted up it was gone. Then i went back into the bios for something, and it was there again! WHAT?

And i redid the unlocking of my processor, and now i can't use the .5 like 9.5, 7.5, 8.5, only whole numbers like 8, 6, 5, 9.

THANX AMD ROCKS

it's not the processor's problem.....it's usually motherboard related
but i don't think thats the problem in abit boards...

correct me if i m wrong as i m not sure abt this

I don't understand when you say i don't think that is the problem in abit boards.....SKY. My A7A266 is a ASUS. And Leviathan's is a MSI. Well, i've just hitt 500 posts! Also, could my power supply (250watt) be causing some problems. It isn't right now, but the 80mm fan in the back of it, is blowing out quite a bit of hot air.

another problem with 1gig is cold booting sometimes it doesn't work. get a 1.2tbird if you need more speed! 101 bucks at tcwo.com. I will try to push my duron750 higher but the highest it would go is 984 adn then it would hose! the temps were much lower than yours try getting a cak38 or the Gladiator hsf(on sale see cyber deals).

I am extremely pleased with my processor! I guess it just needed some more time. Considering i just got it 4 days ago LoL. Well, now she is running completely stable @ 1001mhz 1.888v, 143fsb X 7 mulitplier.

I have heard stories of people hitting the gig @ around 2v. It think i have got a great chip here. Now only if i had a mod for my A7A266, that would get me to 2v, proabably hitting 1050. SWEEEEET!

Hey your lucky my poor D750 throws me error messages in Prime95 (NOT on torture test) @ 850 and wont post any higher... This weekend I will sort things out and lap an Alpha pal6035 to top it off. Wish me luck!

well now that I have a back up cpu I will try to get the 1 gig on my 750 but I haven't been able to do it especially since the temps outside and in my place are around 82F!

I hear ya el ! My temps in my house are @ 34C! My room is even hotter, because my mom insists on closing the door, so all the heat stays in my room. (i am only 15) Before, for some reason, i could not select 5.5mult, 6.5mult, and anything above 7.5. But for some reason, now i can....strange!

Currently i have it @ 6.5 mult, 154fsb, 1.888v, perfectly stable. My DDR ram, still hasn't gotten here, and i am getting quite anxious, so it better be here within a couple hours! Once my DDR ram gets here i will run it back down to 6 multiplier, and back up to 166fsb, cas 2.5, or cas2. That would be a great performance leap!

I can post all the way up to 1057mhz, and before i could only post up to 1008! All i need is more voltage! Can you guys help me to find a mod for my A7A266? I would like it to have nothing to do with soldering to the motherboard.

THANX!
