Welcome to OC Forums. We're glad to have you as a member of our forums. Our Primary Goal is to provide each and every member the opportunity to pursue their desires and goals while here. We have full confidence in every member's ability to achieve them.
OC Forum Rules:
Rule #1: Use your best judgement in all situations. All other rules (http://www.overclockers.com/forums/announcement.php?f=78&a=65) are intended to assist our members and staff in following this single rule.
Please feel free to ask other Regular Members, Senior Members, Forum Moderators, and Forum Administrators any question about the forum at any time. The Forum Feedback forum (http://www.ocforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15) can also be used for this purpose. For a personal answer to a question, click a members username next to their post and a menu will display giving you the option to Private Message that user - all active Seniors, Mods, and Admins will reply to your PM after they receive it.
When welcoming other new members to the forum, we encourage you to link them to this thread.
WELCOME TO THE FORUMS! (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=241747)

As a new member, there are some features you should become familiar with to assimilate yourself with the forums. Obviously you are reading this, so congratulations - you are already one large step in the right direction.
Here's what else you can do:
Post. You've got questions. We've got answers. And we know the inverse is true also. Feel free to post any questions or answers you have - we do not flame or persecute our fellow members for the extent of their knowledge of certain subjects.
Search. The forum search tool is a valuable, yet neglected tool. It can not only help to answer a question you or someone else may have, but it can also help you pose a more accurate question to help you obtain the exact answers you want. If you don't know the answer to an interesting question another member poses, there is a great deal to be learned from the forum search tool. This tool is accessible at the top right of every page. Also, at the bottom right of every forum page there is a text box where you can type your search terms for that specific forum.
View New Posts (http://www.ocforums.com/search.php?do=getnew). This is a great way to expand the realm of your knowledge and find the threads that are currently most active. If your not sure what it is you'd like to know, this is a good way to figure that out. This forum function is available through a link called "New Posts" under Quick Links at the top of every page.

This thread can be used by new, or old members to poke their heads up and just say "Hi" to the rest of the O/Community. If there's anything you want to let the rest of the community know about yourself, this is the place for introductions. Let's see those pearly whites! :D

Hi, my name is Matt. And I'm an OC-aholic.
I'm a Directory/Server Admin for Sherwin-Williams, part of a 5 man team supporting a few hundred domestic and international servers. I also admin the forums as well as Overclockers.com, and I help lead the Editors who keep good content on the front page. I like hanging out here as much as possible while researching and answering peoples questions, there's always new things to learn here. Hit me up anytime, you'll always find me on AIM!
See you around the forums! :D
EDIT: I forgot to share the meaning of my user name with everyone - IMOG stands for "In Memory Of Gus". He was my "Wild Boar" - a Vietnamese Potbelly Pig. Though he wasn't with me for very long due to a coronary birth defect, he quickly earned a special place in my heart. If your lucky, you may catch a glimpse of him in my avatar every so often! :D

I think it would be cool if we put our best OC in our post as well :). My best so far, isnt great, but its dual XP1700+@XP2100+ which is an 18.1% OC on each CPU.

Hey yalls. im Nick, and im in highschool, im annoying and i argue with james.miller. nah. j/k
I love AMD and my XP1700 DLT3C 0310 XPMW is overclocked almost to 200 percent. Well, not really, but maybe like .3 Ghz short. Im at 2.4ish Ghz, i can hit 2.6, but it gets REALLY hot. My previouse best OC was a 2100 Pally 1.73Ghz @1.8Ghz. Now you can see why i thought i was in heaven when i got my 1700 :D

Hi, I'm Paul (Macklin). I always like to hear about what people apply their overclocking skills to ...
I just finished my master's degree in (Industrial and Applied) Mathematics at the U. of Minnesota and am now working on my Ph.D. in (Computational) Mathematics at the University of California in Irvine. I work in computational biophysics and biomedicine; that is, I apply methods from mathematics, computer science, and physics to medical and biological problems. Right now, I'm researching the numerical simulation of tumor growth and chemotheraphy. As such, I get to use a lot of computers. :)
Gee, what else ...
I've been happily married for a little over 3 years now, and I originally grew up in Fremont, Nebraska. Undergraduate degree (math/German with minors in economics and physics) at U. of Nebraska at Lincoln. I like to go running and biking, really enjoy good DVD's, and also enjoy fun C++/OpenGL/custom graphics programming when I'm not doing research programming.
Okay, well, this is too lengthy as it is, so I'll wrap up. If you're new to the forums, let me give you a hearty welcome! If you're not new but we've never been acquainted, let me say that it's great to meet you! :) -- Paul
Hi, my name is Shi.
I'm a student at the university of Louvain in Belgium.
Studying to be a business engineer.
Main interests: Computers, Laetitia Casta, Movies, F1, WRC.
I only got into overclocking 2 years ago, but I've spent quite a bit of time on it these last 2 years.
Nice to meet you all!
best overclock was getting halfway up the first page of ORB in Feb 2002 with 10649 points. I think there were around 7 people faster than me at the time. (good thing I saved that page: here (http://www.student.kuleuven.ac.be/~m0324684/1st%20page%20ORB.htm))
Hello there i'm Chris, I joined the forums a while back now when I was first looking how to overclock, I learned what I needed to and loved the place so much I thought I would stay around for a little while, well it's over two years later and i'm still here.
As you can see from my avatar i'm a huge "Only Fools And Horses" fan my avatars always seem to revolve around the best comedy there is in my opinion, although I do love other comedys staring David Jason such as "Open all hours".
Around the forums you will usually see me posting in General Hardware, Folding and AMD CPU's, I try to make my posts actually mean something and have some value to the people i'm trying to help witch I hope they do, i'm always more than happy to help!
You can catch me on YIM although I must admit i'm not the most talkative guy about, just like in real life I suppose. At school I was always the quiet guy that hardly ever said a word unless I had to.
-Chris

haha, slk-900U + 92mm tornado +2.05 vcore.
It was in the middle of the night with ambient temps of like 50F.
I opened up the window and had my computer right beside it with a big box fan blowing air into the case.
I didn't finish the run though, because it got unstable from the high temps and crashed to desktop.
Normally it's at 2300mhz.

10-27-03, 06:50 PM
huh. yeah, to keep mine from melting i keep it at about 2300 Mhz as well. Although since winter is comeing and my house gets colder, i might go up closer to 2.4. and once i get watercooling ill see if it does 2.6-2.8 ish.
Muahahahah i bet this was one fast reply :D

Hi, my name's Kevin Peterson. I'm a freshman at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. I'm a trumpet player (see nick) and majoring in Music Education, and I aspire someday to be a college band director, however I plan to start my career in high school.
Let's see... what else... I technically have two cars, a 1996 Grand Am (which I plan to sell soon, it is nickel-and-diming me to death with repairs), and my dad's old 1992 Plymouth Voyager (far more reliable than the Grand Am) with almost 176,000 miles on it. I guess my hobby outside of computers is gradually working on the Voyager and attempting to get it to burn less oil.
My personal best overclock is a Celeron 1.0A running at 1.53GHz. It has since been backed down to around 1.47, but it's still running there a year and a half later.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed reading this synopsis of me and WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!

My name is Mike and im the US Army stationed at Fort Rucker, AL. I'm married with 3 kids and currently work as a Lab Technician at a research lab. I've always been a computer geek ever since i fried my dads 386SX while toying around with it. You learn best by breaking things first.
I am thoroughly entrenched into the gaming community since its my second love next to my wife and kids. I am a Senior Operations Staff member for www.teamwarfare.com and am also a head administrator for www.cyberxgaming.com. Gaming is really what got me into Overlclocking because you know gamers are always looking for that extra edge. I love to educate those in my community about hardware and making the right decisions when it comes to upgrading. I get my nickname from being a long time University of Michigan fan even though im not from there. A friend of mine got me hooked on them while i was in high school and i haven't looked back since.

Well, you can all call me Malpine. I first used this name in an online RPG based on Robert Jordan’s “Wheel of Time” series. Actually my first name is Douglas and I am a psychiatric social worker.
I found the forums about two and a half years ago when my old computer bit the dust. Actually, I killed it by running it pistol hot with no case cooling for several months. That not withstanding, I had had enough of tech support that did not exist (that computer had a sticker on it with a toll free number to call but none of my calls were ever answered).
Given that, I decided to finally take responsibility for my own computer and learn how to build one from the ground up. As my last computer had had a case cooling issue, that is what I looked for on google. One of my searches turned up an article on the front page about a refrigerated case. So by and by, I made my way to the forums. I read quite a bit for several months before I registered and made my first posts (search for them if you want to see a real noob).
Over time, I learned the way of the forums and at some point I must have impressed someone because I got a PM a few months ago asking me if I was “feeling blue”. I guess the rest is history.
Also, IMOG: I brought Toby_23 in here a few weeks ago. You owe me a dollar.

Good [Insert time of day in your part of the world here] to you all.
I'm Red.Or RDD. Or any other shorter way of typing reddeathdrinker you can think of! Real name? Alasdair.
What's Red Death, and why do I drink it? In the 1800's, Wm. McEwan, a brewer in Edinburgh, made a slightly stronger beer, made with roasted barley, to export to British troops serving throughout the Empire (we ruled the world back then you see.....) Look at my avatar. See what Tux is holding? Yup, a bottle of Export. Called Red Death, because of a: the colour of it's container, and b: if it's not your usual tipple, you feel like crap the morning after......and I drink it. If you're old enough in your country, go wrap your laughing tackle round a pint of this fine piece of brewing history.
I'm an Engineering Technician (Propulsion) in the Royal Air Force, working on the Nimrod MR2 aircraft at RAF Kinloss, on the beautiful Moray coast in Scotland. I do a lot of computing at home, mostly on Linux. I am a keen mountaineer - click for bigger pic!

That's me on Liathach 4 days ago (from this post!)
I also make scale models of aircraft, armour and sci-fi stuff, have a wife and two kids, two cats, a dog, a budgie and two big fish tanks..........
Enjoy our forums, you can only make them better!
Name's Jack.
I'm a retired professional firefighter. Started messing with computers in '85 when I was secretary of our local union, and since have gotten into upgrading, repairing, and now building systems(all self-taught, with assists from here). I've been here since the old iteration of the forums, back in the late '90s.
Single best OC was getting a 300mhz Celeron to 600 with aircooling. Not often you get 100%.

I've been overclocking for about 6 years or so. I don't post much anymore, but I'm always here.
I go to school at a community college in Minnesota, but I don't have a clue what I'm going there for.
I work at a gas station.
I'm completely addicted to autocross, and during the summer I autocross my Miata regulary, sometimes driving nearly 5 hours each way just for 5 or 6 minutes of seat time. Sometimes I even win my class, too. :burn:
My current computer projects are a mini ITX system for my car to play music, and eventually a complete upgrade of my main system to better suit my current needs.
Christoph
11-05-03, 03:12 AM
I'm Christoph, although I used to be "IdeaMagnate." I also used to think I was a mouse, but that was a long time ago.
I really like playing with and using my computer, and am not especially fond of overclocking. I've got plenty of power (but never enough RAM) in my 2 modest duallies (XP1600 and PPro 200) and I've found that OCing can cause the GCC (GNU Compiler Collection) to break. I use Gentoo Linux, which makes custom compiling everything very easy, so you could say that my software's overclocked.
I enjoy scripting, reading about Unix and Zen and taking long walks on the beach at sunset. I usually spend my time here in the Alt OS forum, where I try to explain that backing up to /dev/null is a bad idea, no matter how fast it is.
I also write limericks when I get stressed out or stay up too late.

I'm Keith and I'm a senior in mechanical engineering at Auburn University. I stumbled across these forums a couple of years ago when I was getting ready to transfer to Auburn, and I'm still on the forums usually on a daily basis (although I do more reading than posting). I'm usually up at insane hours doing homework or running to the engineering computer lab to work on the current Matlab assignment at the last possible minute. Yes, I'm a procrastinator (I'm working on it though). From the knowledge I've gained on these forums I've built my own computer, overclocked an Athlon XP from 1.53GHz to 2.3GHz, built my own inline watercooling loop, and built 4 systems for friends and relatives. My aunt also had an older PII computer with some software problems and said I could have it if I thought I could fix it. 1 reformat, 1 Windows install, and a couple of drivers later I had a perfectly good PC which I gave to my mom, who didn't have a computer.
My user name is also the name of an exciting jello-wrestling event held somewere in Birmingham, AL. I heard the name one time and thought it'd make a really cool forum name.

I'm Roy. I got into this OCing addiction first by wanting to mod my rig last winter. I wanted a sweet looking rig, and I'd read many forums about how to make my beast more colorful. This one just grabbed me though, as it has so much more than just modding to offer. I am a junior pre med at lock haven U of pennsylvania. I also play rugby (obviously) and like to mountain bike. So far my best overclock is my 1700 up to 2.42.

Yeah I love that site very much. I agree with you on the content, yet I still laugh at it! Speaking of rugby.. I'm off to try out for the PA collegiate select team. I wouldn't consider myself totally crazy for playing, but something is missing for sure... Anybody ever see Jonah Lomu, from new zealand? He's the guy with the little patch of hair on his bald head, which sits atop a 225 lb, six foot five inch frame that can run the forty nearly as fast as randy moss... I'd hate to mark him haha

Hallo. Ich heiße Peter from Seattle WA :D. I am in my second year of running start at north seattle commuity college (I'm a senior in high school but I go to college for thoughs that don't know what running start is) Hopfully I will go to Germany in the summer to continue germany study there in a program.
Anyways I have been around computers my whole life (games of course: keen, doom, all of the Quest series and a lot of game I can't remember on 5 1/4 in floppys w00t w00t) but I never really started to learn, tinker or build them until I saw a one gigahertz cordless phone and wonderd if I could make my computer a gigahertz :D That was several years ago. Now I am taking a computer classe (A+) and I also do a lot of computer work, repairing, virus cleaning, building for people I know. I have some future in Computers I just havn't decided what yet. I guess I will try a litle bit of everything.
Once you try OCing you never go back. These forums are truly great. Take care.
I am not sure why I have the name Big_Baller but I'v gone by it on the net for some time now. I think I will change the avatar soon. Does anyone start to get bald, close to the ago of 18? I am. It sucks.
I am determinded to get my barton 2500 stable at 2.6 ghz. But that hasn't happened yet. So I guess 2500 on a 2500 will have to do.

Im UnseenMenace and am proudly the first European Mod on OC-Forums.. Im a Englishman.
I used to be just DaMenace which is how my mother used to refer to me in my younger days, however I went to a meet with some IRC buddys once, but a few of us went down early after work and hit the bars... I got a little to over consumed and spent the rest of the meet passed out in my hotel room.. People started to joke that I was at the meet, yet nobody saw me and infact I was the UnseenMenace... :D (been using it every since)
Im into small form factor PC's such as the Mini-ITX platform and am a big fan of Linux although I am not very capable with it. (trying to learn)

<-- bows down to lilDevil... "Hey..... GIVE ME BACK MY INFORMATION!!!!" :D
My name is Jason. I just got married about 3 months ago. Just built my first computer... it's the rig in my sig (I made a rhyme!!! ) Yea, I'm a wiseguy too...
ATM: I'm studying IAP (Interdisciplinary Arts & Performance) at Arizona State University in my senior year. I'm hoping to move to either Columbia or NYU to get my Master's in Fine Art. I'm currently working as a Graphic Designer for Sandhills Publishing, I've been doing a lot of web work lately, so I'm literally on the net 10-16 hours every day. If you're curious, you can see some of my work in Smart Computing, Computer Power User, PC Today, and CE Tips magazines. I'm really into cutting edge graphics (print & web), 2d & 3d animation, painting, drawing, technical illustration, custom computers & modding, weight lifting... and most of all... gaming. I'm a non-recovering addict of Halo (XB & PC versions), so hit me up if you want a good CTF@BG match! ;)
Kinda sucks being into cutting edge junk like this when you're broke... but it's alright. It gives my wife something to complain about, since I'm not fat, lazy, bald, and impotent yet. :D
See you around...

LMAO
Nice thread indeed IMOG.
Hrm... lets see, try to keep this short....
Ok, well My name is Lynn, although I go by Marty. (Middle name is Martin... get it? me either. ) LoL
My nick (IFMU) is a name I started using a few years back when I couldnt get one of those "cool names" back when I was mentally challenged and used AOHe__. The name comes from a car wreck I got into several years back when my car, a 1970 Monte Carlo, fish tailed and litterally SHOT up telephone pole tension wires and sat at / <~ THAT angle and on 1 tire for nearly 2 hours. i.e. the Incredible Flying Mobile Unit was born. Which, is the name I started using and have been since. If there is a forum that I would even be remotely interested in, Ive joined, with that name. ;) LoL
Anyways, I dont do much of anything other then work, sleep and bugger with my computer. Im not sure what the best OC is Ive gotten honestly, but I think it would prolly be either this older slot 1 300Mhz that I had at 600Mhz, but was never capable of testing for full stability. No spare HDD. It booted to it and thats about the best I could do at the time. So not totally sure on that one. Then I had an ASUS nForce board (the first round) Um... tryin to recall... 1.4 Thunderbird... think I got it 1.8 or 1.9... not sure to be totally honest... cant remember..... sucky memory... lol
Wow... that got huge.. ok Im out
Peace!

Er... WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!
Ah, that's better.
My name's Matt. I like computers. A lot. I also like to think I know a few things about them, having recently acquired a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a job as a software engineer at a Fortune 500 company. Although I'd usually rather be writing or playing games. :D
When I'm not working (which isn't all that often), I like to spend my time playing games, fencing, and hanging out with my college friends. Reading books and working on my own programming projects seem like distant memories after 4 years in school, but they're also indulged in when I get the chance. ;)
I fenced competitively in college (8th place finish in the division my senior year), and also played on our rugby team (B-side lock) *and* in the marching band (now *there's* a combination for you!)
Anyone interested enough to read through this should know that if you're a programmer in the Boston area with a CS degree, really sharp C coding skills and knowledge of assembly programming and the internals of multiprocessing systems, I can probably get you an interview for a full-time programming position. PM for details.

Hey guys, I'm new here. I'd like to introduce myself...
My name is Brett. I'm currently a junior in a Dallas-area private high school, the St. Mark's School of Texas. I participate in our school's robotics club, where in October we placed third in our city-wide robotics competition, the Dallas BEST (DallasBEST.org) sponsored by Texas Instruments (TI.com and BESTInc.org). On November 21 we will advance to compete in the Texas BEST competition (TexasBEST.org), where teams from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Arkansas, and Oklahoma will face us. I also enjoy programming in JavaScript, Visual Basic, ASP, some PHP, and also enjoy creating works of art in Photoshop, Flash, and Maya. I play water polo, I swim, and I play baseball (all for my school).
I came upon you guys when I decided that I didn't like the lack of choices I got with retail systems (i.e., Dell), and decided to take a leap and build my own computer. Though I had many problems both buying quality parts and putting them together correctly, it was your forum that helped me, even being my very first post there. So at this very moment, I am the proud owner of an AthlonXP 2500, capable of very much more than that =)
Just thought I'd get to know you guys =)

But, I'll put the URL up here anyway. Don't laugh at the colors just yet =P

My name's Matt (how many of us are around anyway?), I'm a junior in high school. Half my life revolves around the fun, cozy craziness of our band and jazz band, I'm a drum major and play French horn and trombone, and I try to squeeze in loads of honors classes, expanding my music listening experiences, reading quality EU Star Wars, trying somewhere to get things in order and get myself around to learning computer graphics, and trying to get to know a very beautiful (in more ways than one) girl during the rest of my time. So I don't have that much time around here anymore, but I squeeze it in :)
The only real OC that I've gotten around to so far is my 1.8 Xeon that I BSEL'd to 2.4, a 33% OC.

Currently I'm enrolled at UCF in Orlando, FL working for a Forensic Science degree. I have one class left before graduation. Yes, i do the same thing as the CSI people. No, I do not cut open dead people, but I've seen it done many times and am about to help on an upcoming weekend :).
I'm just in my first year (of 5) at UofE in Edinburgh. I am doing just a straight Chemistry MChem degree, and finding it very intesting as I am finding Stoichiometry more interesting than thermodynamics so far ... cant be right .... lol.

He is Patrick Walsh. He lives in Peterborough, Ontario, which is a little town of 75K, and its ALL white :(. He likes computer games, especially shooting ones. He reads alot and does as little actual work as possible, and is quite lazy, and procrastinates like mad. He overclocks because he wants his computer to run his games as fast as possible. He is in his last year of highschool and plans on attending University next year for computer something... He has focused on software because it is challenging and fun to make infinate loops on computers that have fortress on them, which allows only a hard reboot to get out of the loop... "tee hee hee", he says. He once knew Java, VB, and Turing but forgets all of them.

My name is Sean and I have been a Radiologic/Ultrasound Technologist for about 11 years. My very first computer was a Timex/Sinclair with 2K of memory. :D
I have been visiting overclockers.com for about 6 months and I have learned alot! When I first visited this site, I thought overclocking was not something that would be possible or very practical for me to do. I thought my computer would just burn up after a few months of use. From the help of everyone here, I have been able to build a computer myself that is overclocked very respectably, and it has given me a real sense of pride.
I have met a lot of very nice, helpful people. Nobody flames you here, just because you are a newbie that asks a question that has been asked hundred times before. Everyone is very willing to help you out. That is why I have stayed. This is a good place to be.

Hi. My name is Karl, and I'm from Grimsby, Ontario Canada. My nickname is Oni, and it means demon in Japanese. I'm the official Shirt Ninja in these parts :)
Around the forum, I mostly stick around Games and General Discussion, but I also lurk around Alt. Modding, Microsoft Operating Systems, Applications and Software, and Video and Sound cards. I can be terribly sarcastic and opinionated at times, but I'm pretty easy going and agreeable on the whole.
I'm a big anime fan, and will watch just about anything regarding that. I enjoy computer hardware more than software, and avoid coding like the plague.
I'll talk to just about anybody, but I'm not a terribly 'chatty' person. Feel free to PM or IM me (I'm available on every popular IM client) if you'd like to talk.
Hi, My name is Jason, I'm from Quebec, Canada... and NO I'm not french ;).... although I can speak french, I'm English born and raised.
Hmm... no college for me, Finished high school and decided it wasn't for me. I'm nearly 22 and *EDIT* Just became a forklift driver *EDIT*. I run my own computer repair/upgrade business on the side, doing quite well actually. Also, I'm a farmer... yes us farm boys can get into technology too, my parents own the farm, and I help out on weekends. We raise beef cattle and horses.
Hmm.. I'm getting married in the near future (June 2006) to my beautiful fiance who I met online in 1999 :) I owe a lot to computers, they have really changed my life, I used to be quite the troublesome teen but computers have gotten me straightened out and on track. OC forums has taught me almost everything I know about them.... THANK YOU TO EVERY MEMBER!

Hi I'm Jimmy and I'm from Wisconsin. I stumbled across this site, saw a great community out here, and had to have in on it. I just bought a house so I'll have one more build (still waiting for the monitor) to post about and then the buying part of this little hobby of mine will be done for a while.
I'm a suffering civil servant making the most out of a psych/anthro degree. Yeah ok, I'm really not making any use of it at all. I just really had to get the student loan people to shut the freak up; and then I kind of got stuck here working my way up to Governor. :)
My annual calendar is marked by Halloween and Summerfest. The rest is just kinda' filler material. When I'm not tweaking my computers I'm drumming or fishing or camping or drinking too much Bud. Sometimes I do more than one of these things at the same time.

I'm Steve, I'm 50 and have been happily married for almost 25 years. I have two adult children. Daughter 23 & son 20. Six pesky house cats (Edit: five as of 12/27  ) and two barking rats (miniture pinchers) :D
My career has been changing about once a decade. I've worked as an Electrican in the US Navy, did all phases of residential building construction in San Diego CA, worked in the printed circuit board industry in White City OR and now I'm working for Tara Labs in beautiful Ashland OR building very expensive home theater equipment while going to college part time.
I'm studying to be a registered nurse now so I can help others in their greatest time of need and also make enough to live on for the rest of my life. (no pension so far and forget SSI :( ) It's very interesting work and export proof too.
My handle audioaficionado comes from my love of high-end audio systems. I have to DIY them because that's the only way I can afford it.
I was looking for a more powerful computer to run very sophisticated speaker design and testing software on. Since I DIY my own audio equipment, I figured I'd do the same for a new computer. Google pointed me to this forum and I was amazed that you could safely overclock a computer and make it much more powerful.
Well I soaked up lots O' knowledge for awhile until I learned a thing or two and started to help others. Next thing I knew I was asked if I'd like to be a senior member. I accepted the honour and was amazed I'd even received the invitation.
This is the very best forum I've been associated with. You'll get more out of this expirience the more you participate.
I mainly hang out in the SMP and Folding at Home areas but I do venture into the hardware areas frequently. Occasionally I'll venture into the discussion areas to see what else is happening.

Greetings
I'm Griffin
This place is habit forming, but the side effects are rather desirable.
Don't chat much, as i'm usually reading, or playing any instrument i can get my hands on, and i prefer audible conversation. It was music which fanned the flames of interest in PC's. I wanted to build a recording studio, and Mac's were out of my price range, as were OEM boxes, so i had to figure it out. And i'm glad i did. I remember the days of text based bulletin boards, C64's and AppleII's, because i'm 30 yrs old. Anything beyond that is pretty blurry.
I am all over this place, just following my nose. Sometimes i strike a nerve, but i mean no harm.

alright i'll have a shot.
my nick is emericanchaos. it is an original nick i thought up about a year and a half ago. it goes like this. i am an american so start there. i like electronics and owe alot to electricity. so that makes me an electronic american (also i chat alot to people from other countries so electronic american fits this as well) i shortened that to emerican. then the last bit. all through my life i've had trouble with sleeping and depression/ADD. these problems make life quite chaotic at times as i'm awake at the wrong times and often have trouble getting things done. so that qualifies as chaos and became an addition to the rest of me :D my friends call me chaos, yes they really do, because the full name is a bit of a mouth full when we go out.
i don't think i really have a home forum here. i float around and sorta lurk while remaining active. guess i just have to much time on my hands. if i were to choose a home forum it would be the folding forum or vid cards and sound.
i'm probably the resident grammar nazi. i tend to say things properly on the boards as it gives me the ability to actually write rather then try to get a word in like a chat room or channel. i also tend to be long winded in posts as you're noticing now.
i like computers, cars, girls, puzzles, cooking, and sometimes eating if i made it well. i'm currently a freshman at Pennslyvania College of Technology http://www.pct.edu studying Data Communications and Networking. i'm 20 and turn 21 on new years eve.
i can say alot more but i won't. if anyone wishes to contact me you can hit on AIM or YIM @ emericanchaos or click the www button at the bottom of the post and visit my home on the web.

My nick is L337 M33P for no readily apparent reason, my real name is Jonathan. I live in England and stumbled across the site 6 months ago, found the forums and decided to join.
My knowledge of computers has risen exponentially since then, and I have purchased numerous upgrades weeee
I usually post in almost all the hardware sections - I have no liking for programming lol.
I am studying to become an Electronic Engineer - final year of college this year.

Hiya!
My name is Mika and I'm a lurker from finland. I work in an internet helpdesk and study comptuter science in university on my free time.
Wellcome to the forums!!
Hello, my name is Ben, and as you see, I'm from Helsinki, Finland.
I'm a student of Internet Media in a art academy, where the others use macs. I spend a lot of my time designing case mods and helping friends with computer problems.
My name comes from a nickname that my older sister came up with, which also happens to mean gasoline in Finnish.
Hello,
My name is Monty. If O/C had an over-the-hill gang, I guess I'd be a member. My nic comes from a car my dad used to race, a 1965 Barracuda. The only picture I have of me and my father shows him holding me in front of the car when he won his first and only first place finish in 1965.
I came to O/C on the advice of a friend when I decided to build a new machine, but was behind on the times. Now I'm hooked on overclocking and folding (http://folding.octeams.com/).
I am a nine year Navy veteran but I got out in 1991 so I could raise my two oldest daughters who I got custody of in a divorce. I have since re-married and added two more daughters. Yeah, I know, I'm a glutton for punishment. My girls are 18, 16, 11 and 3. I now design commercial fire alarm systems.
You will not find a better group of people than those you will meet right here. Although it is not a place to come and chat, you will quickly feel like family. Don't be afraid to ask what you think might be a stupid question, Lord knows I've asked my share.
My best o/c is in the sig. I know HTML and am currently learning Basic and C++ (at the same time and it's driving me nuts).
Welcome to the forums!

Hey, I'm Max aka orange on the board ...
With the help of these forums I was able to kick computer from a mere 1.8Ghz to an extremely stable 2.3Ghz (a 500Mhz boost), although through the overclocking process I have had times where the machine was all the way up to 2.5Ghz, which is getting dangerously close to a 3/4 Ghz overclock! However, it was terribly unstable, so I mellowed down to 2.3. My computer's name is SAL because of it's blue lights and acrylic case. It's sweeeet. All lighted and stuff. Big ol duct in there, red mobo, double cd burner action, zalman speed controller ... and one of the knobs on the speed controller controls how far the light in the cathodes go up the bulb! So I can make it all flashy and stuff. One day I'm doing to try to rig them up as db meters for L and R channels off my sound card.
I'm also a vintage junky! I love the 486 series of computers. I have two DX/4-100 processors, a DX/4-120 processor, a SL 25 laptop, and a server that runs off of six DX/2 66 processors! I also have some mondo awesome hardware for those chips, like a custom blue anodized heat sink head on the 120, a green head on one of the 100s, a mach32-powered ATi graphics wonder ISA card, AWE32 sound card w/ expanded memory, about 50 sticks of older RAM, even a mobo with PCI slots! My laptop is my pride and joy right now though. I recently got a PCMCIA CD-ROM, a zip drive battery, a new HDD, expanded RAM (8MB RAM total) ... a mess of stuff. I also stuffed it with a 4500mAh battery that lasts days w/o a charge. It rules. I also dig the NES. A lot.
Yeah these forums ROCK. Everybody here is very kind and helpful, won't laught at your mistakes, and care when you make them. I too will help you guys achieve your maaaaad oc skillz and fold it like I stole it. So enjoy the forums, good luck with your oc'ing, and HAVE FUN!

Hellooooo Therrrre to all you people out in Overclocking Land.
The name's Dame(Damon to be exact) from the mean 'ol streets of New York City. I came across this board from a link that pointed to the uncovering of the 'Grinch That Stole Christmas'(*******s). Unfortuantely I was a victim of said Grinch and received a locked Barton. No worries. I'm cool with it. *inconspicuously loads shotgun* FINE I tell ya. :D Anyway, glad to be here. I'm new to the OC game and ready to get dirty.

Hi. I'm Shane, but you can call me Timmy. I'm sure all of you know (or at least recall) the old website TimmyBigHands.com. It was closed last year becuase it did not generate any revenue. It was created by the makers of Mystery Science Theater - A GREAT SHOW. Anyways, I still FULLY support Timmy, but enough on that.
I build boats for a living. I am a Supervisor of the interior department at Rinker Boat Co. Specifically, I build the largest boat in our fleet, a 42' Cuddy Cabin. The boat has 3 bedrooms, a full bath, and a full washer/dryer room - besides the deck and lounge floors. It is addorned with a Flatscreen LCD television with a Bose surround sound setup, cherry-wood throughout and corinthian leather seating. A very nice setup indeed.
I was married just two years ago, and we are both young and very poor. My wife loves me enough that she SOLD A CAR to build the computer in my signature. I could not believe it! Now we have to deal with figuring out how to get around with only 1 car, but I love my PC. The forums are a big part of my day, as I rush home to read the latest posts. We have a great bunch of guys here, from whom you can learn a great amount on just about any computer related subject. Read through here, and enjoy. We'd be happy to answer any of your questions.
Welcome to the forums, all.

Well... I've been lurking here way too long and posting way too little, partly due to my firm belief in the value of the search button, though now that I know a few answers I'm being helpful when I can... but anyhow I thought I'd get around to saying hi. My name's Daryl. I'm a Computer tech at a local Digital Video Store (lotsa high-end hardware :D) , though I'm attempting to save up and get back into college... for what I don't know. So,
I've been overclocking for quite a while also, thought I didn't come across this site till sometime in 2000. My first OC attempt was on my parents old 486DX33, took it up to 40!!. (Which, percentage wise, is my best OC). My current OC is in my sig. It'll post higher, above 1.9 GHz in fact, but isn't stable there, and I'm not sure what part to blame it on, so since I like where its at, I'll leave it till I have more money.

I am new here. I know a bit about O/Cing and I am really into it and completely insane. I'm also English, so fear me.

A penny for the one who can guess my first name ;). I'm here mostly for the watercooling section, I've been overclocking for a number of years and I figured water was the next logical step.
Just because I'm still on an achievement high, here's a little pic of my system as it stands:

Hey Peeps Adam here (some of you may know me as SlaterSpeed)
Ive been into this overclocking stuff for a couple of years now but only discoverd this site about a year ago and its definatly the best thing on the net! Im at collage and what with all the work and stuff i dont have much time to post as i would like but im allways messing with computer stuff and allways happy to give you a hand if you need it.
Im hopeing to start a small buisness up after collage so i can turn my obsession into some money and have a bit of fun at the same time!:) so watch this space!
Apart from the pc side of things im very interested in cars and perticualy motorsport. Im only 17 but have allredy built a couple of motors. My dad owns a engineering buisness wich is great for both car and computer stuff (waterblocks!) and ive also raced Karts at national level since i was about 8 or 9 so im hoping to do a degree in motorsport engineering or something like that.
Other than that im your usal 17year old who spends most of the time either In bed, Drinking or trying to get girls! (and failing lol) :D

Hi, my names John Lester. I work for a company specializing in ultra low tepmerature freezers in los angeles. about 3 months ago i began building computer freezers much like the prometia, but alot colder. I currently have thae system opainter has used to atain the #1 slot in 3d2001. This system in a -100c dual evap gpu, cpu cooler.
I have also began building custom systems for various people that are interested in pushing there hardware even further than a prometia could ever do. If i can help anyone with any questions they have about coolers or general refrigeration i would be more than happy to, so please feel free.
thank you

Good gravy Mr. Lester, we need to talk!
Hi, I just found this board today and already lost about 4 hours just reading through old posts :)
My name is Aaron, I'm a 3rd year at The University of Essex (http://www.essex.ac.uk) in the UK, studying Internet Computing. I've been overclocking since I broke the die on my Thunderbird athlon 1200mhz last summer (bad) and ended up replacing mobo chip and ram with my current rig (good :) )
My best overclock so far is my xp1700+ t/bread B @ 13.5x166@1.6v (~2.24Ghz) which I ran stable for about the last 3 or 4 months, but have clocked back a bit so i can have a little less noise.
Spec for my main rig is in my sig, I also have a Pentium 3 500 with 256mb ram, radeon 64DDR (old school i know), seagate 17gb noisy slow 5400rpm HD and quiet pc 300w psu. which at the moment is pretty much acting as an external hd and doing some grid.org calculations, but also allows me to test my network project (when I get going on it).
Looking forward to sharing what i know and learning from you guys

Hey I'm Matt and I'm new to OC forums I was refered here by crashoveride. I know a little about computer hardware and networking. I hope to be helpful here at OC forum and learn some too.
My computer is okay but theres nothing special about I just built it by hand and ordered the parts off newegg.com. I didn't do any radical mods or make my case from scrap. I also didn't do any oc'ing I'm planning that for later;) . I am an active member on X-bit labs which is a great site to get news and fairly unbiased reviews on the latest ahrdware especially CPU's and video cards.
Hey, im new...
Yah..

AMD Athlon 2100+ non-OC'd as of now

Hey all. My name is Andrew, im 15, and im a sophmore in lakeland (fakeland) highschool. (School sucks :( )
I live in westchester county, whcih is about 40 minutes above NYC. Fun stuff :)
Anyways, i got my first computer when i was about 11, dell dimension xps 500 (if i recall correctly). I had that pc until about 3 years ago, when i replaced the motherboard and processor. This was my first time doing anything with computers, which is a prety major job, but i pulled through, after a few hours of fidgeting, it came out all good. After taht, i just gradually upgraded it. The only remaining part of that system is my hitatch 16x dvd rom drive, which keeps crapping out so it is on the road to death soon :(
So after all that, ive got a pretty good system, and ive got a 9800 pro on the way from newegg :D
thats all for now. peace out

I can't believe I never saw this thread yet :(
Anyway, my real name is Jeremy and I'm a hopeless computer addict. Got into computers rather later than I would have liked, considering I just turned 30 this year, and started out with an Atari ST in about 1993 or so. Soon afterwards, I got my hands on an old 386sx system, and a long cycle of upgrades and learning began (though thanks to lack of income I'm usually behind the curve in my upgrades). Now, I seem to be the guy everyone in the family goes to for computer repairs lol.
In terms of income, I've done a few things; most noteably becoming an electronics technician at age 15. Recently though, I've more or less gotten out of that (less than profitable) racket so I can write novels full time and work as a church secretary.
Hello All,
My name is Matt. I've been lurking around here about a year now, reading and learning. I'm 33, married, I have two sons(3&6), a dog and a cat.
My job title is IT Manager, but, given the size of the company, that's more of a primary role along with a whole lot of other stuff. In reality I have that title because at some point several years ago I could take a PC apart and put it back together better than anyone else in the company and even get DOS and Windows 3.1 to do what they were supposed to.
All the things I learn here go toward creating better systems at work. We're a manufacturing company and you can do some really cool things wth systems that'll actually function reliably in 130 degrees Fahrenheit ambient temperatures. Every now and then I get to build one for myself, too.
Stick around here for awhile and read more than you post and you'll have a great opportunity to expand your overall knowledge of hardware and even software on occasion.

Hello, im Tom and im 22. Ive been into computers for a long time but havent been paying attention to the hardware for a while. The last time i knew my way around the inside of a comp it was 50 bucks for a 4 meg stick of ram :D . I have been on this site nonstop since i found it a little while ago while looking for info on a new comp im building and have loved every minute of it. This forum has just floored me with how nice everyone is here. Methinks i will stay here for awhile:)

guess this is my intro, of sorts:
name's dan, 30, live in los angeles... was a comp sci major, dropped out to work for a .com... worked for a bunch of them since, now im an independant contract developer... currently doing on-the-fly divX encoding of multiple video streams.
Been overclocking and basically abusing (and breaking) every machine ive had since moving to my first 386, from a commodore 64 (still have it).
Rig 1 (not complete yet):
Abit NF7-s V2, 2500+ barton, ATI AIW 9600pro 128mb, HyperX 3700 2x512, 2x WD1200JD in RAID-0...
below-ambient liquid cooled (it's radiator is in the freezer, of the fridge that holds my beer).
ViewSonic 19" and 17" dual monitors.
Rig 2:
Aopen mobo, PII 450 @ 600, mystery 4mb PCI video card, Dell branded 3x512, Maxtor 30gig, 2x WD 6gig, NEC ND1300-A DVD burner, mystery 24x CD-R/W, Seagate tape b/u.
Air cooled... web/mail server and backup machine
Notebook:
Gateway Solo 5300, P3 650 UNDERCLOCKED @ 600 because it runs too damn hot. Dont ever buy a Gateway.
Other than the obvious interest in computers, im very into streetbikes and hot rods/customs... which i spend a LOT of time with (a lot more than "real work")
Thats my story, and im stickin to it...

Hey I'm Adam... Been building computers for a while now, but I just recently got into overclocking.
So far I've broken quite a large ammount of hardware doing it (the worst a Radeon 9800 Pro 256 meg), but with the help of these forums the rate of breakage is decreasing.
This summer I'll be moving up to Long Beach (I'm in San Diego) to attend DeVry, get my degree in computer engineering and hopefully get an occupation where I build computers or something along that sort.

Hi. :)
I'm Scott from northern California. I live with my girlfriend near the beach and go surfing almost every day (yeah, in the water). Then I come home and go surfing on the forums.
I have a carpentry business. I only work part time because I like to have fun more than I like money.
It's funny that my original intent with this overclocking stuff was to improve gaming performance. But now I'm way more into learning, overclocking, modding and tweaking than gaming. I'm completely obsessed with this stuff.
I also like to meditate, read books, cook and walk in the woods and on the beach.

Funny, I never saw this thread before either. :)
My name is John, I'm 34 (will be 35 on the 18th), and I'm a Senior Application Developer writing code in VB, SQL Server, and C in UNIX. I started playing with computers around age 12 when I found out a friend up the street had an Atari 400. He started teaching me Atari Basic, and I've been hopelessly addicted to computers ever since. My first computer was an Atari 600XL, then I got an 800XL. Started modding with that one when I found out that I could wire a switch from RS to the floppy drive to make it so that I didn't have to punch the side of the disk out to write to it. :D Went from that machine to an Atari 520ST, then a 1040ST (which I still own and still runs just like the day I bought it.) Then I got a 286, 486, etc. My current machines are a P-120 running SCO OpenServer, a PII-300, a PIII-733, an AMD XP2000+ Palomino that runs WAY too hot, and this machine, an overclocked XP2500+ at 2.2GHz.
I could go on with all of the hobbies I have, etc., but this post is already too long LOL, so I'll end it here. If anyone wants to know more, feel free to ask, and I'll do my best not to bore you to death. :p
Hi, my names Andy aka RGX, im a 17 yr old partial student. I've been lurking here for a while without registering because you don't allow hotmail accounts and I was too lazy to set one up :P, but today I figured would be a good time to get myself a POP3 account.
I'm on an extremley tight budget being a student with no real income so new hardware is few and far between, overclocking gets the most out of what I can afford, looking forward to a new GFX card though.
From what I have seen the community here is really tight so im looking forward to becoming part of it, hope I can help others in return. :)
Im also from England, as Ricky Gervais put so eloquently "Little island near Europe, used to run the world before you did" :D
Anyway, thanks for reading :)

Hmmmm...just randomly found this thread :p (actually my hand randomly slipped and clicked on the link in IMOG's sig).
Anyways, my name is David and I'm from Bellevue, a city near Seattle, Washington. I'm a Sophmore in high school right now and I plan to go to the University of Washington, or maybe CAL Tech. I probably will major in Electrical Engineering or something and try to go work for AMD ;). I spend my time browsing this forum or hardforum or playing games like CS, DoD, CoD, and Halo. I spend little time in studying since school is boring. Mostly on the weekends I go to LANs at my friend's house and sleep over. Nice to meet you all :)
Hey y'all
I just joined the forum today- name's Aaron Williams(mtb856), from Montgomery Alabama( my dad's Air Force, so I'm not a local), I'm just about 19, mech. engineering student, and just recently an overclocking addict

Hey all just posting to say hello. I'm New to the forums but already you guys have impressed me and you are all full of such great information. I'm a full time student at the University of South Florida in Tampa. I've built 6 systems in my life and never overclocked one, but i'm prepping to pop my OC cherry on my next build (2 months)

Good to have you Shoeby, we're all about popping OC cherries around here. :)
I just noticed this thread, and since I am new here, I will post a short intro on myself.
I am a 21 year old dude from Helsinki, Finland. Great weather for overclocking most of the year... heh. I have a girlfriend but no kids (phew).
I am unemployed, most of the time. I do some work as a software tester every now and then though, which is how I got the money to get a new computer.
I am currently studying for entry exams to the University of Helsinki to study Economics. I did my military service in the navy last year, which delayed my entry into Uni by a year.
What else... yeah, I've travelled a lot, born in Brussels, lived in Paris for 4 years, Canberra for 5 years, and in Helsinki a total of 12 years.
I joined the forums because I finally decided to get off my ass and get a new computer to replace my venerable P200MMX. Before that we had a 486 SX33. So upgrades have been few and far between, but now that I am earning the money myself, I don't doubt I will be upgrading more often.
Oh... my name is Tom, the nickname is Mosh. Long story.

Greetings all  ......I've been here for a few months, but I don't post much. This is in all likelyhood because it's very difficult for me to see the monitor with my head in my case, even when there's nothing I can mod at that particular time. I am without question a bit "obsessive compulsive" about getting anything and everything I can out of my hardware configuration. Over the past few months, the helpful/knowledgeable folks on this board have widened my scope of knowledge in the O'clking department. I'm a real estate broker, and since I was only working about 3 days a week, I decided to start an in-home computer repair/building service four years ago. I scan as many threads for what they can teach me, as well as those who are in need of advice.
I've been using the handle "irishfanatic" in other forums for as long as I can remember. It didn't take much brainstorming to come up with that handle, especially since it describes me well. I played football there, and was even lucky enough with a few core courses to graduate  I AM in fact fanatical about Notre Dame, and am equally fanatical about zip ties, sleeving, unlocking cpus, and ummm......that kinda stuff. I ask a lot of questions, but I'll always take time to answer them as well, especially if it refers to hardware.
Thanks very much to all that have assisted me in my quest to not only put my rig in pain, but have also assisted me in speaking to my wife in a langauge that makes her not want to talk to me for refreshingly long periods of time :p
Hi
I found OCForums during a search for info about DIY CPU ducting. Naturally, after being awestruck by the great info to be shared here, I was addicted. It was an incredibly natural flow (heh ;)) to go from the matter of "improved air cooling" to actually overclocking my shiny new 2800+.
I've visited a number of tech forums with content relating to AMD overclocking and cooling, but IMO this place has the most comfortable overall layout as well as the nicest knowledgeable folks. People like theWesson, Clocker2, archilochus and fac_29 are the reason I keep checking for new posts in the cooling and AMD CPU sections.
More about me:
- I'm a 32-yr old C programmer born and living in South Africa, after a 7-yr stint in Namibia (the other 'Nam')
- I've been PC crazy since about 1990, even though I've only owned a 386-DX40, a DX4-100 and now my current setup (which I upgraded from a 2100+ to a 2800+ after a year). I'm an AMD fan all the way.
- My favourite past-times are gaming (Diablo2 mostly, plus a few dips into FPS's, RPG's, strategy), dance and dance music (across multiple genres) and occasional comic collecting. I thoroughly enjoy the CCG Vampire: the Eternal Struggle too.
- the nick 'killem' is a play on my name and I've used it for LAN games. Going back through this thread, I think I could almost qualify for the nick "Netfreak" too
:D
I hope this place retains its friendly informative nature for a looonnngg time!

Nice idea for a thread!
I'm a 30 something (no I'm not telling you) living in London and working in the City. Used to be a happy academic collecting degrees until I ran into that brick wall known as "The Funding Difficulty" :bang head: Now not so happy, but at least I get paid more than I used to (not difficult).
First computer was a BBC Model B (2MHz & 32K RAM - it rocked :p ), and seem to have been taking computers apart and putting them back together again since like forever. Finally got around to getting a PC at home last year after not having one for a couple of years, and now drive my girlfriend distracted becuase it's always in pieces in my eternal quest for lower temperatures and silence. (Word to the wise - Lian Li 6070 - nice case, lousy airflow... )
What else - oh yeah, complete astronomy nutcase. Can regularly be found out on the heath freezing half to death in the middle of the night. It's an even stranger universe than you think!

Hi guys,
I'm Jon from CT, USA. I am a freshmen in high school. I've been interested in computers, baseball, and the piano since I was around 3. Today those are my three main hobbies. I have two overclocks which I am most proud of: a 2.4C to 3.8ghz on AIR and a 3.0C to 4ghz 1/1 memory divider on my current watercooling system. While you may see my kick-ass off-the-hook system:p and think it was given to me, seeing as I am only a freshmen, that is not true. I worked for every little part of my systm except the video card which was a gift. And I'm proud of it. My next project is either a waterchiller or single stage phase change system. AFter that, a Cascade.
I have to admit though, I like baseball more than computers. Maybe it's because I can pitch 76-77mph with a 12-6 curveball and nasty changeup with dead accuracy. My best game ever was a few starts ago when we mercy ruled the other team. Out of 15 batters that came to the plate, I struck out 14. So if I go on blathering about baseball in some of my posts, or refuse to talk to people that make it known they are yankee fans (I'm a die hard redsox fan) please do not take offense.
I also like girls ;)
Sorry for the long post, this forum is really great. I hope to help lots of people in my stay!
PS: How come every damn vbulliten forum inserts the smiley faces at the end of your post instead of where your cursor is???

Welcome to the forums computer pro, I hope you find what you are looking for here.
The smilies can be hand coded in where-ever you want... That's how I do it. All of the vB shortcut keys can be hand coded, and its even quicker that way once you get used to it... The codes for smilies are listed next to the text input box when you hit post reply - click see more and it will list the manual code.

06-06-04, 09:10 PM
I have been here for a little while now and haven't introduced myself.
I am Carl [Poole] and I am 14 years old. I live right on the Canadian border in Northern Minnesota. My first computer was a Mac SE I got for 10 bucks at a garage sale. Prior to my friend moving here I was not too interested in computers. When I was 11 I started a bike repair shop in my town and it took off like crazy, and it was fun. Then, 2 years after becoming totally addicted to PC's, I started Quantum PC Repair and now I am rolling in dough. (ya right...) I have since discontinued my bike repair because I am too busy fixing computers and other such things. If you want to know anymore about me, pm me or MSN IM me, although I don't have a clue why anyone would :)
Most of my computer-friends are way older, and its hard to find people my age too interested in computers to even talk to because most think that there 'flat screen black dell' is the best computer on earth...
:) Anyways, computers are fun, until I get frustrated and break them. [RIP COMPAQ]
Name is well Tim. My nickname IRL is Timdog.
Currently have a scholarship to a very good Highschool in my state. I have always been a good student at school and my lowest average was I believe a 96.6.
I currently have built 4 computers. First one was a tester, then my first gaming machine, then a linux box, and now my current one.
I love computer and plan to make it my career. I really like to game a lot. I lead a MOHAA clan for 2 years and I have made many great friends online. I have just started to overclock and these forums have given me a lot of info. I do not currently know what I really want to do with computers as my career, but I have been getting into modding recently so I believe I will become either a game designer or a graphics designer.
Current OSes and specs of computers:

Music choices: Rock, heavy metal, techno
Movies: Heh, many here :) Fav ATM is LOTR:ROTK. I watched it from 12 midnight till 3AM the night the DVD came out :o
I guess you could also put Band of Brothers here. I'm a big WWII buff.
TV shows: Most recent has to be 24. I like intense shows like that.
Pets: Current is two cats, no idea how many fish, and one parakeet. <3 for cats. :)

I'm Daniel and I'm an Israeli born in Sarajevo, Bosnia.
I'm 20 years old and I'm in the army, working as an armament tech on F15's.
I loved jets ever since I was a kid and I like my job most of the time, I started tinkering with comps ever since my 486 DX 66mhz and 10 years latere here I am with my 2500 Barton rig (curerntly in the shop due to BIOS screw up).
Anyway I didn't see any Israelis here altough we have a nice growing OC/Modding community here and the only think stopping us are the high hardware prices over here.

Im not new, but this is prolly the first time Ive introduced myself. I am a practicing modder who would like to mod hardcore, and has the talents to, but lacks the time. My name is Luke, and I live in Minnesota, and work as a security guard. Im 27, and still single - due to the fact that I live in a very small town and the dating choices are so limited. I just managed to hit 3.5 with my fairly new main system running a 2.8c ht m0 stepping, and an Abit IC7-Max3. Runs 250 FSB 5:4 quite stable. I am building a spare system with my old 2.4c ht and a crap Intel D865GBF mobo. Might make a good gaming system - Im dropping in a spare 9700 pro I have, running a 9800XT in my main. My biggest mod so far was putting a 2400+ AMD system into a small suitcase made out of baltic birch, lined with black aluminum inserts. Its stained with a light satin finish, just enough to bring out the grain. Project Baltic (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=278071&highlight=project+baltic) theres the link. Anyhow, I have always appreciated the way everyone treats others with respect and positive criticism here. Kudos.
No, my name is not Sjaak ;)
I'm from holland. Got into overclocking about 2 years back, have been visiting the overclockers site for 1.5 and the forums for about 6 months. Had some problems registering in the beginning, but now im really up and running.
My best overclocking results are to be found here (www.overclockers.com/tips1060) and here (http://www.overclockers.com/tips1103/) The first one won me a 100 $ in march last year, i really enjoyed that :)
You can find me around in the CPU / Motherboard / Memory and Games sections, but whenever ive been busy again, cooling and casemodding too. I like to help people - so that they might help somebody else eventually. Please don't knock me down because of my english - its not my native language, and especially with complex phrases and words i am still having troubles. (go ask [BBE]Jimbob :p)
See you all around, have fun, and always try to enjoy, no matter how long you stay, no matter where.
Tim

Well I have been putting this off way too long so here it goes. My name is Jeremy Phillips and I am a senior at Saint John's University in Collegeville MN. (Yes D3 National football champs in 03-04.) I actually haven't been into computers all that long, but since I have been, it has been rather intense. I got into it my freshman year at college because I love to make this go faster. I have a 2000 mustang, which I will post in the car portion soon, which I love to tinker with, but because parts for cars are so much money, I got into computers instead. I got the name drop-top in high school because I was the only one with a convertible in MN, and it really stuck in college when I first starting playing CS on the lan at school and it was my handle. My buddy Andy (WheaT) and I OC together as a full-time hobby now. I just built my second comp to Fold and to be a server on the LAN next year at school for WC3. I love everything about this forum; the people, the knowledge, and most of all, the escape from homework. (You all know what I am talking about.)
Thats me in a nut shell.
Fold fast, love life, and live OC'ed.
Drop-Top
Well hes not lying ;). My name is Andy Olsen, most call me WheaT, or in drop tops case wheatdog. I have been into computers ever since I was hurt. I broke my back in a snowboarding accident my senior year in high school, and ever since the summer after i have been into computers. Its kind of funny because I went from a 3 sport high school athlete to a complete computer nerd ;). Not that its bad, just a drastic change in a quick period of time.
The first system i built myself was a watercooled system. It came after about 2 months of research, and waiting for an intel proc with the 800 fsb to come out. Lately I have been getting more and more into the forums and the wealth of knowledge this place provides. Im just trying to soak it all up and pump as much juice from my system . You have to understand, and drop-top will confirm this that I live my life in slow mo, but not when im on my computer ;). If you see me on say hi to the handicapped kid.
P.S. I can park in handicapped spots. Makes you jealous doesnt it ;).

Hi my name is josh Huckeby, I live in Butte Montana and I am 17 years old. My job is being a lifeguard, which means I will one day have enough money to build a SMP comp but it won't be anytime soon. Given the chance I will drive you nuts. I also am an nvdiot just ask me I might drive you nuts.
I got into computers hardcore about a year ago, It started with a want for a comp to use for playing mp3s on my stereo. So my dad gave me an impression mobo(still one of my favorites ever) a cyrix 686 233 that went to 266 as well as not frying itself when accidently run without HS for an hour. 48megs EDO ram, an s3 virge and a 6 gig Wd HD. Trying a new case with it I fried that mobo sniff. So my dad brought me home a celery 300, with a pc chips mobo(hated it beyond hate) that was suppesdly bad and 32 megs pc100. So I ran that for a month and one of my dads friend gave me the p3 system in my sig except the GF2U. I ran that for about 5months and I am now about to get my xp-m or a64(please let deal be real please). So that is my real comp and oc exeperiances.
I found overclockers.com about 8 months ago but didn't join the Forums until may. If you wan't to know crazy stuff about pools and swimming ask me and I will find out.
Sjaak your articles are one of the things to get into o/c very hard core. THANK YOU THANK YOU.
Hi.
I'm daba, or you may call me David. I'm a full-time undergraduate at UC Berkeley's College of Engineering. Naturally, I spent too much time on the computer, tinkering with hardware, and other hedonistic activities where I should be studying and working towards a solid future so I can fulfill my dream to become a hedonist (like the hedonist-bot in Futurama!).
Regardless, I like these forums and the enthusiastic welcomes that come about. Looking forward to a good stay here!

Oh my an introduction thread!
My name is Jon. I'm from Canada's favorite frigid northern territory. I live within 400 km of polarbears and the arctic ocean. I'm taking Civil Engineering at the University of Alberta and hope to complete that and begin on an aeronautical engineering degree in a year and a half on the east coast or in the US.
I love hockey, soccer, paintball and any other water sport you can name. I game like a maniac and somehow 3 or 4 years ago this lead to overclocking and I've been around ever since.
PS: If you send me $10.00 + $1.00 S&H I'll send you some fresh snow in june. ;)

Welcome Phil! :)
Could I ask, is your keyboard broken, or did you sneak into college? LOL
That may just be one of the hardest posts to read and understand that I have ever seen! I thought we Americans were the ones bent on the deconstruction of the English language! :D

Well, John here. Serious gamer of mainstream PC games since the shareware version of Doom. Remember playing Doom with my brother when we had a serial connection between the 2 486 comps. But have started overclocking since I got my first comp in 2001. Started small, and always have been on the budget end of the product lines, but still manage to pull off some impressive stuff.
Currently working and going back to college to get my degree in Architectrual Technologies, and glad I found THE FORUM to go to! I do what I can to help, and usually in the CPU/AMD CPU, nvidia, sound categories.
Best overclock was my 2500+ runnin at 2.4 on an SK7, with an MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR mobo. Not the best for overclocking, but was stable enough to pull off a decent score in 3dm01.
I am looking for 2.5 on my A64 2800+ when it gets in. And no, I dont fold, I search. :D
Teger... I build PCs for friends and whatnot.. Recently a mobile A64 in a K8N Neo Plat for a friend - unfortunately the voltage is still being a bitch and the whole thing has issues but at least it's stable with about a 200 mhz overclock... Board is annoying as hell ..
If I'm ever not poor - I'll probably go with an A64 with an Epox or the new DFI which looks promising.
Currently an Aviation student / Pilot at SCSU in Minnesota.

I'm Trevor. I have a short fuse with people who irritate me. I pretty much hate everyone equally & don't discriminate against anyone individually. (I know thats a saying, but I'm not stealing it, it's true).
Now that I started that off on a good note. :p I love computers, it's the only hobby thus far that has held my interest. I have had a lot of hobbies & computers has lasted the longest, so I'll spare you the boring details of others I have had. I currently work at an insurance company & will be in transition to somewhere else very soon.
I'm blunt, honest (sometimes both at the same time which can hurt), I enjoy helping people out if I can. I've been here actively posting since I joined & have learned a lot from members here ( ;) thanks!). I've made attempts to come onto IMOG, but have not succeed (he said something about distance & he doesn't like stalkers, dunno  his loss I guess).
Highest stable OC thus far is on my current rig (see sig) 230x11.5 at 11-2-2-2........It's fast but not as fast as my 4 banger Eclipse 02'.
I have used this same nick for about 4-5 years online. Many meanings behind it, overall it fits computers perfectly, because they are ALWAYS obsolete the following day.

Hi, My name is Joe and I love Overclockers since I was referred here from a person in a car club. I originally learned a lot about computers by joining a games forum while I was going to Arizona State University. It's amazing what a 12 year old that wants to play doom faster can show you about computers  So anyway I built my first computer when I joined here and never looked back, its so nice to know something about the inside now and not get burned buying pre-made of the cheapest parts manufactured systems.

I learn how to o'c when I know a site name: overclockers.com, around 4 years ago. Normally I do a lot of seaching in this forums and find what i need. This place is a big help, and have to go here every day, WHY???

Well, I'm Jon-Paul, and I'm a freshman at the University of Oklahoma and studying to get degrees in Chemical Engineering, applied to Biotech, Biochemisty, and minors in Mathematics, Zoology, and Chemistry. I'm prolly gonna end up being a 2nd or 3rd year senior, lol. My best OC was getting my 3.0Ghz Intel to 4.1Ghz... didn't last too long though. Crashed quickly, but it WAS there.

My name is Leigh - I'm an Airline Pilot and computer enthusiast (geek). I've been engrossed with computers since my first computer, a Tandy 386SX with windows 3.1. I was very excited when I installed a Wang Math Coprocessor, bringing my SX up to a DX. Yeehaa...
I enjoy both the hardware & software end of computing, especially overclocking. And finding a freeware app that works better than a commercial version is always great.
The Forums are very much part of my daily routine- helping others when I can and learning from all of the great folks here.
My name is Christopher, and I'm 20.
I work for Antietam Cable; a small cable ISP in northern Maryland. I also administrate forums for the world's largest and most-visited Minidisc website in the world, minidisc.org. I'm new to the OC'ing scene and I haven't done anything in that regard [other than my vga card], but I look forward to tweaking a bit and seeing what I can come up with. It's a pleasure to be here and I look forward to contributing to discussion whenever possible. Nice forums, btw. :)

Welcome Kurisu, you will likely find many more like you around - though their homes away from OC may not all be as large as yours, many around here have their own sites they run.
Feel free to PM anyone on staff (blue, green) if you need pointed in the right direction for anything. :) We're always glad to help.

Hello OC forums!
As my name suggests I'm a beginner. My real name is Anthony, wife's name is Melissa. We live in Iowa but I grew up in Lake Worth, FL. I'm 25 years old and I've lurked here and at a few other forums for quite a while but due to a lack of the right components and enough courage I haven't actually overclocked anything yet.
That's about to change. I've only actually owned three computers in my entire life and the first two were out-of-the-box systems. The third I built with overclocking in mind but with only a basic knowledge of what I needed. I'm glad I did because there is no comparison between a system you build yourself and a Dell. It's very satisfying.
I've already talked to Drisler on AIM to thank him for posting the RAM guide that answered a lot of questions I had about an aspect of overclocking that I don't yet fully understand. I hope to meet a lot more of you.
If any of you want to chat about computers or have any advice for me shoot me an IM on yahoo messenger to Moghedien71 or on AIM to M34tpupp3t (Long story on that name I really need to change it). I'd enjoy any good tips or advice anyone has.
Sorry but my IRC is on my system which is in pieces at the moment, I'm on my wife's computer.

I can understand your surprise. I'm no computer guru but I know more then everyone in a 50 mile radius it seems. Sometimes it gets lonely :p
So you in Allison or Sheffield?

Hi, my name is Matt and I'm from Brisbane, Australia. I've been using computers for the last 12 years and working in IT for the last 5 years.
I love playing with my systems hardware settings. Unfortunately I was unlucky with my desktop Athlon XP 2500+ and had to take the voltage up from 1.65V to 1.7V just to get it to run at stock speeds (1826MHz).
The best overclock I've managed with this is 2377MHz as my mainboard won't support more than 1.9V. Not a big deal as my little 330W PSU can't keep up, with voltage readings going all over the place.
I intend on replacing the CPU with a XP-M 2600+, the PSU with a Super Flower 500 w/ 14" fan and my HSF with a Thermalright SI-97 + 120CFM 92mm Sunon fan this year. It's not about value for money, it's the feel good factor with those high overclocks!!!!!

My name is Bo Derchak, I'm 21 and I live in "dirty" Jersey(NJ). I've been lurking on the forum for about a month and the idea of Ocing really appealed to me. I've been a computer junky for about 10 years now but just recently got into higher end performance. I scrapped my old system(P4 1.4ghz Gateway 2000) and built this one with gaming performance in mind. So far so good, I havent melted any componets YET. I must credit my 400mhz OC to the helpful people on this forum. Just today, I also joined Team 32 and I'm looking forward to folding.

Hi i am mitch. i've been involved with computers for about 5 years now. i was at the web site overclockers.com a few times but i didnt know the forum was so active and helpful. i lurked for a while then saw a few other peoples problems i thought i could help with so i posted.
i've had a koolance before then dabbled with my own watercooled system. some bad luck struck me (well really a deer smashed into my car and totalled it) and i needed money bad. i sold off some parts in the gaming rig and made two pcs into one. i am very intrested in all aspects of computers. hardware and programming the most.
i hope to help others in that ask on here and look forward to others helping me as well. i am happy to be a part of such a friendly community. my AIM is in my profile here so if anyone wasnts to talk about PCs or just shoot the **** feel free to send me an IM.

Wow, another Aussie! I find the same problem CM. You post today and have to wait for tomorrow for an answer. Kida sucks, but that's just the way it goes, eh? :p

I haven't yet introduced myself yet...
I'm Sam. I don't have a last name on the internet. Computers are pretty much my life. Currently, I'm in the mid years of highschool, and my job is centered around computers. I set up their new locations with networks/computers that I built etc etc. It's quite a responsibility, and it's quite fun too.
On the side, I'm a devoted martial artist. My martial art of choice is Jeet Kun Do / Vale Tudo. Both of which are full-contact (very few rules). Jeet Kun Do is my favorite though, because, like true karate, it's spiritual. This or computers will end up being my career. Or both, which would be really cool.
Welcome to the forums guys.
-Sam

Hi, I'm Don. I live at the New Jersey shore.
I am 52 and a PhD chemist retired from a career in Pharmaceuticals.
I am thinking of starting a new career as a PC builder/upgrader/repairer and have learned tons of useful stuff here including everything I know about overclocking. This forum has to be the most flameless place on the internet. Kudos to the mods, senior members and all the mature folks who post.
Someday I will get around to creating an avatar, but keeping my sig current is a full time job.
(referred by navig)
I just want to say one thing :)
The OC Forum is the best! :)
I forgot to mention previously....behold of the bunny!
Seriously!
This forum is filled with the best people in all fields related to computers and overclocking. OC has it all! Cooling (including H2O and extreme), video cards, CPUs, PSUs, memory, motherboards, and so on.. and even software.
But most importantly I really like the members themselves. How the atmosphere is at the forum and how others are welcomed and everyon tries to help out...
I just want everyon to know how much I appreciate this forum (and the members) and that I'm proud to be one of you :)

I'm Dave, living in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Computers are my hobby, modding and over-clocking are by-products of that hobby(okay, almost obsession).
Divorced, father of three(2 living with me), shacked up, getting married again in October 2006.
I value honesty and integrity above anything else, and I'm brutally honest, which does not earn me a lot of friends, but the friends I do have, are the very best.
I'm just a wee bit if a cynic, okay, I'm very cynical, that comes from working in the trades for most of my life. I have to bite my tongue(my fingers in the case of the forums) a lot. My wife(girlfriend/common law spouse/person who yells at me alla time for drinking too much beer) says that biting my tongue is a good thing. I'll defer to her opinion on that, so I don't get yelled at, heh heh heh. :D
These forums contain a wealth of information, and so do its members, it's a priviledge to a part of this place/community. The OC forums rock, and its members are the reason that it rocks! :attn:
My name is Cedric Cook, and I am a computer half-newb! Well, not for long. For the last few months I have been studying the workings of hardware, Windows, and soon Linux! (tried it once, loved it). I will be overclocking and modding as much as possible soon enough as well, so expect to see a lot of posts from me.
I reside in Terrace, British Columbia, Canada, but only since Fall 2003. Before then, I was a North Vancouver, BC local.
I love skateboarding - I'm obsessed, as you can see by my sig. I also like listening to music as much as possible, and I'm an avid reader.
I am currently finishing my last semester of grade 12, and will be attending my local community college in Fall 2005. I will be taking a variety of computer courses.
And last, but not least, I am VERY skinny. Remember me as "CedStick", not Cedric haha

Hey, I'm Peter, and I'm 13, 5'6".
If you look at the processor in my sig, I've overclocked that old-ass processor to nearly 950Mhz (actually, 948.42 Mhz, to be exact (damn you, number 42!)). Shooting for 1Ghz :p
I'm also an avid Xbox modder, and currently have a server *experiment* running on the computer in my sig. I might post a story somewhere, so search for it :D
I've performed an all-region mod on an NES, acquired a laptop from '92, and have a friend who I helped to build a computer (Intel).
I also have a girlfriend, and she is the best person I've ever known. Her name is Leah, and she gave me permission to put her in my avatar. :) I love her. I sware, there is no one better than her.
Peace.
