Seems the server with the gromacs wu's is down right now...
That's why a lot of us are getting finished wu's backed up in queue to be sent and getting tinker wu's in the meantime.
Shouldn't last long.
Oh ok, thanks Arkaine. cause i just finished a 70 point tinker.. so im lookin for a G, ;)

So what is better to have grommies or tinkers?

On SSE or 3dnow capable CPU's gromacs are way better. On cpu's without those extensions, it doesn't really matter...

P4 has SSE available yes, but tinkers don't use it.
Here's an EXCELLENT thread about the flags and different WU's out there.

cool thanks for the clearup, so If I see the start of a tinker on one of my computers should I dump it?

If I get a Tinker from a server under normal conditions I figure Stanford needs my help in getting it folded. However if it is a download forced by inactivity from a Gromacs server (we complained so much about waiting so long for work that Stanford installed a trigger that switches you to Tinkers if grommies are unavailable) , or if you wait to long on dialup and the trigger kicks in switching you to a Tinker server, then these Tinkers I dump. I also dump the first Tinker recieved during a new install. No one gets the only issue of a given WU so if you dump one it is no different than not finishing one on time. This response will trigger a debate but that's the way I see it.:)

:argue: Just to have it said... once you receive a WU, stanford server mark it, so it wont be sent twice. Meaning, if you dump it, it will first be released for a new distribution once its time-limit is up, and thus dumping slows down the overall project progress.
So if you can get away with it. zip the WU you don't want, and let someone else finish it, by emailing them.
It does happen that folders here create a post if they have several WU's that wont be finished.. its a quick way to score some points if the WU's are half-way.
:D I know the difference is minute... but still, its the thought that counts, right?

I don't recomend dumping becasue I figure Stanford has a reason for the protein. If Stanford didn't want it to be folded then it wouldn't exist.
