I had the same problem with my TDK 48X drive ; try using Imation or Verbatim 48X disks , seems the TDK does not like some brands of CD media .
Try getting a firmware update to get more compatability.

i've searched for a new firmware
i found a firmware that can make my tdk 48x 4800D work in 52x
an unofficial version(?) cuz i cant found it at www.tdk.com
http://www.hardwarezoom.com/drivers/tdk/CDRW4800D_2T02.exe
What will happen if i fail to upgrade my firmware? can i fix it ?
can i back up my current firmware before i upgrade my firmware to that firmware?
thanx
Well it must be offical if its on the TDK website....
If it fails, your CD-ROM will stop working....
Yes i think it is possible to back up your firmware just incase it does fail.....
You will have to search around for a program to back up it...
