I thought this game was free, yet when I go to there site to download it, they want $5.95?

If you can't download it, I think you can go pick up a cd copy from an Army recruiter's office. You'd prolly have to listen to a "Why the Army is important to your future" sales pitch, but you get a free game out of the deal... and a good free game at that ;)
join the Air Force, the Army sucked :P

Yes it's a good game. You cant beat the price really. I havn't played in quite some time i should reinstall and get patched up todate and see what has changed. I think i stoped playing around 1.4 or 1.5 what patch is it up to now?

1.9 is out now, and they added a new class, the medic. 2.0 is coming out soon with the Special Forces addon.

The medic class doesn't give you a whole lot. You can heal injured teammates. You can't patch yourself up if you get shot though... which sucks! I'm looking forward to what Special Ops can do in the game.
Yea, USAF = the best! My pops is a retired LTC from the USAF (flew F-16 and A-10), my grandfather is a retired COL from the USAF (trained pilots for battle in WWII).

Ya know I use to get hit up by these guys all the time. All I had to do was lift my shirt and show them my open heart surgery scar and they would say " have a nice day"

ya know, i'd probably join the marines or something..if it weren't for the migraines i get. And i get them so bad i lose my lunch, can't walk, can't see straight, and just end up curling up at the nearest spot i can lay down. Sucks, cause i'd like to join.

Americas Army 2.0 should be released on or by November 6th
Here is a small list of some of the updates:
4 new maps
New weapons:
M870 Tactical Shotgun
M4 Modified with user choosable slots (Laser sight, Scope, Bipod, 203 Grenade Launcher, Tac light) (Opfor uses AK47SU)
AT4 Rocket launcher for the Stryker missions (opfor uses RPG7)
M14 Incendiary Grenades

Sounds pretty sweet! I'll definitly be checking it out.
Yeah it's a fun game. I had a HARD time downloading it. Now that things have died down I guess I'm going to have to try again.

The DEV's suprised us with a few things
The Shotgun is not available yet :(
The Sniper now has a M9 Pistol (sidearm)
There is a SPR (Special Purpose Rifle, like an M-16, with a Scope, Silencer/flash suppressor, and longer barrel)
The game absolutely rocks now, although the SF training is a bit tough. The test is easy, but the Escape and Evade is not so easy.
The maps are absolutely beautiful, My favorite new maps are SFHospital, and SFcsar. SFPipeline is the same pipeline as before, except its at night, and you get your SF weapons.

Got that right! Have any tips??? I can't seem to get past the camp w/ the searchlights to get to objective 1... :-/

I'm still kinda hesitant... A really cool free game downloaded from the US Army? I'm probably paranoid, but it's probably tracking people and listing potentials for the next draft....

Heh, no problems here, unless I decide to become a US citizen. Its basicly a recruitment tool, because the army finally wants people with some brains instead of mindless grunts signing up. You can get a free cd at most recruitment offices if you can be bothered to listen to a recruitment speech.
Just updated to 2.00 last night. My old account doesn't work any more. I haven't played it since I got BF and NWN. Took me 4 try to get 36/40 for being a sniper. Last time took me over 30 try lol
Got one little problem. When the sound suppose come from in front of me, I hear it from behind. When the sound should come from behind me, I hear it from the front. I am certain my speakers' setting is correct due to I used the tools in Audigy 2 installation disk made sure of it. Maybe it's just the silly game have bugs in sound directions.
Anyone else has this problem?

no..but make sure you have the jacks plugged in the right spot. You may have your subwoofer and rear jack plugged into your front jack spot. Just switch them and see if that works.

naw my speakers' setting is correct. I used "creative speaker settings" from the Audigy 2 disk made sure of it.
In AA the directions of sound are definatly opposite.
I like the chance of a good free game, but it is obviously a draft attempt. that's undeniable, the army won't make games simply because it's a newfound hobby of theirs . . .
i fear brainwashing, that's what i fear. Any gamer has experienced the strange game-related dreams you get after 24+ hours of straight lanparty. Maybe the *******s found a way to 'improve' drafting by simply making it subconscious.

Here civil service is obligatory. Its for 6 months. I won't mind when I go, they even pay you a little each day.
Well when you think you are serving the country, you are actually serving the government. While you are serving the government, actually you are serving the few real bosses who control it.
If you join the army, the worst thing is they send you to the battle. You may end up dead on the land half way across the world without even knowing "what was I fighting for again?"
lol just a few days ago, two army officers were walking about in my college looking for fools to join them. They were giving away business cards and free calculators with "An Army of One" and "goarmy.com" on it :)
AA is just one of the tools they use to make "fools" think it's cool to join the army. To "smart" people, it's just one free game.
Above is just my opinion, no need to yell at me if you feel different about it ;)

Well, in Finland, its quite sure that you won't be sent to server in some far off land. If there ever is a war, I'll just use my second nationality to go back to Switzerland, because you know that the Swiss aren't the most waring people in the world. :D
I've been playing Americas Army since the release. It's one of the best games I've ever played. I play under the name "HuRKie" (Honor 49) and play most maps. My favorite maps are: WC:SE, SF:Hospital, Insurgent Camp, SF_CSAR.
The new SF maps are still a bit laggy and they are working on resolving the issue. You should get All-Seeing-Eye if you are having problems seeing the servers, they are also working on that.
New fun features. The pistol with the sniper is hilarious, and it's an absolute insult if you kill someone with it. The new weopons mods are GREAT and the Silencer is a very nice feature (Although it'd be nice to start with it on). Chosing your scope and accessories for the gun also kicks some serious arse. Look for me, I'll be around.
