9500 pro is indeed better.

The 9600pro does hit some killer clocks, but the 9500pro is faster per clock. Test em both.

ok just for clarification cause everyone seems to think this way. ITS NOT A 9600 PRo its just a plain ole 9600 cost $150 at best buy.

I got noticed something. I was reading in the sticky's and a 9500 non pro to mod to a 9700 when you look at you chipset in the advanced it should say 9700 right well my 9600 non pro says 9600 pro so could or maybe flash to a 9600 pro and make this card real kick butt?

i take that as a no?

Probably could. Depends on the ram. Still, I would take a 9500pro over a 9600np any day.

The memory on the 9600np is usually crappy 5ns stuff, in which case you won't have a chance of hitting the 300MHz that the memory on the 9600 Pro cards hits. The 9500 Pro is a far better card.

ok i get that that card is better but im gonna have both to paly with. Is there maybe a mem volatage mod i can do so i can get it up to the 300mhz cause it hits 270 as it is and 451 on the core

The 9500 PRO is the better card hands down at stock speeds. Basically you could say that the 9500 PRO is a 9700 with the memory bus bumped down from 256-bits to 128-bits.

The 9600 is similar to the 9500, however the 9600 only has 4 pixel pipelines. 9500 PRO has 8. It also has many more transistors than the 9600 making it better per clock cycle.

yeah I understand that the 9500 pro is a better card but i don't have it yet and will still need to use the 9600 on another rig when i do get the 9500 so i was wondering if there was some sort of mod i could do to get the gpu volts higher and the mem volts higher. cause 451/27 is alot higher then what it gets stock clock speeds. I added a P3 stock fan to the gpu heatsink and got 20 mhz more from the core was wondering also if it was worth my time to cool the core with a new hsf and add ram sinks or if i wasn't gonna get a better clock then it won't be worth it.

take the 9500 pro. But 150 bucks for a np? you can get a 9600 pro online for 150 bucks. then overclock it and be a little faster then a 9500 pro.

i bought the 9600 2-3 months ago and with tax and all it was $150. So i take it there is no mods that can be done to this card at all?

well damn it i need to get the mem just a little more juice to bump up the speed cause its bone stock and hits 270 it shouyld almopst hit like a 9600pro if i could only give it a lil more juice

you could do a volt mod which should give you a little more "juice"
