Ok New 3dmark score has me stumped

Ok Heres the story. Running the card at 425/325, With 3.7cats I got Like 12700 or so in 2001. I tried the 3.8,s and got a good jump to 13600 or so. The 3.8.5's got 13800. Now heres the stumper. I uninstalled the 3.8.5's (3.9,s) And reinstalled the 3.8's

Clocked the card up to same specks 425/325. Ran 2001 again, same settings as before, and now i just got 14806. How in the heck did it take a jump that high. I mean im not complaining, but man i never thought id come that close to 15K with this 9600.


Going to try 2033 now. Got 7605 with the 3.9 cats. Wonder if this too will jump up?


Cant wait to play Some games now.

sometimes even with uninstalling the drivers, you may have a few things left over in your registry.

after a uninstall, I look at regedit as well as deleating all folders from my C drive.

but hey man.....
if IQ seems the same, I would keep what you have for now.
a boost with working AF and AA sounds great to me.

Major JUMP in everything Even games.Alls i did this morning was Uninstall the 3.9's with uninstall feature, And radlinker. Reinstalled the 3.8's again from ATI site and reinstalled the radlinker and rebooted. Turned on that New feature in the 3.8,s for vpurecovery. Clocked back to 425/325 and set driver to 4xaa-4xaf. Quality, Quality, Vert sync to app.

ok heres what is happening.

2001- On low driver settings plus in bench set to 640x480x16 16+16 ect(lowest settings) I went from 13600 to 14800+.
2001- 1024x768x32 4xaa 4xaf quality, quality, vert to app in driver. Bench set to 1024x768x32, 24bit, compressed, (high settings) went from 8143 with 3.7+3.8 before reinstall, To 11334!!

2003- Drivers set to 4xaa, 4xaf, Quality, Quality, Vert to app, Bench set to 1024x768 Post process, Optimal, 4x samples.
I went from 2779 with 3.7 and 3.8 before reinstall, To 3344!!

Now i can not explain the jump in scores. Nothing is different on the rig. Temp in room is about the same.

Its just weird, Just thought id share that little bit info with you all.

Nascar2003 went from 42fps ALL high setting in game with all cars on track, to 54 fps!!

Well maybe when the final release of the 3.9's come out they will combine some of the 3.8 modifications they had in them. Thats what I call a great jump in preformance.

thats great to hear the jump but those problems people have with the 3.8's worry me though. wont you be safer with the 3.7 for now?

Whatever has happened, Im not changing anything. The performance gain is awesome. Dont know why, I hads the 3.8s in already and changed to the 3.9 leaks. The ONLY thing i can figure is, The 3.9 uninstall Must have worked better than the 3.8 uninstall did. They say its the same, but thats the ONLY thing i did.


This is very good for me performance wise. Guess this will hold me over till i get me a 9800XT or the next best thing out when i upgrade soon.

Ran all benches again today, Same Increse in scores and in games. I wish i knew what happened so i can do the same for the new 9800xt i get for Xmas. I never even came close to 11500 With drivers set to 4xaa 4xaf and quality settings at 1024x768x32. Makes me like this card all the more. Best $150 ive spent in awhile.

I figured something out.

If i change driver settings manually I get lower(alot lower scores) in 2001. Now if i use the profiles, I have one for benches, one for games, and one for real high aa+af. If i use the profiles and apply, i get atleast 4000 more 20013dmarks at same bench settings.

can someone else try this out? Just change your driver settings for direct3d and save it as a profile. Now run 2001 check score.

Now go back and pick the profile you saved, and apply, then run the bench again. When i did this i gained 4000 points.

Thats too weird. LOL i just figured out the lobby test is from the matrix LOL Man my mind is messed up. Duh
