i built my new computer.. its great and all that BUT, i have one problem

ok i have an Abit IS7 motherboard (which comes with onboard sound) 512MB DDRAM pc3200 and a 2.4 gig processor running windows XP

my problem is.. after my computer has been on for a while, whether im using it or not.. my sound gets extremely choppy and my mouse skips all over my screen and stuff, it was doing it the first couple of days but then all the sudden it started doing it.. it usually takes about 45 minutes for things to get so choppy that i cant play or listen to music or anything for that matter... i figured it was my computer getting to hot.. so i checked all my fans and temperatures in this thing called hardware doctor which came with my motherboard.. temperatue is well below the maximum allowed temp (it beeps if something gets too hot, and i havent heard it beep yet)... so if anybody knows anything that i can do it will be greatly appreciated.. i've installed the latest drivers and all that.. and this is the only problem that i have..

mmm... u might have a virus????? is your HDD light on alot??? if so then something is doing it shouldn't be...or you have a virus...

If not, then i could think it could be bad ram...try downloading RAM testing programs... tell us any further information... the more information we have the more chance we might know the problem and how to fix it...

Reformat and if that dosen't stop it then RMA it. Make sure you are using the newest Intel and sound drivers.

I have an IS-7 also and from day 1 my sound was terrible. I had the similar issues with the sound getting progressively worse over a few days of being constantly on, but I didn't notice the mouse issues you have. Many people with IS-7's have sound issues. At one point I even started to pick up radio signals from the airport down the road. This didn't happen with any of my other computers, and it wasn't the speakers, they are shielded properly. I tried all the drivers as well, and Abit's answer was to try different shieldings around and inside the case.

I just got a new soundcard. Took care of it right away. :)

P.S. if you have an IS-7 and are using SATA drives some people will never see the HDD light, it doesn't seem to work for everyone with SATA drives. Abit knows about it. EIDE drives work just fine.
