My brother has a 900mhz Tbird (slot cpu) and wants to overclock it. Can anyone point me to a Goldfinger device for purchase online or should he just try to crack the case and connect the L1's? Thanks all.

Read this http://www.tech-report.com/reviews/2000q1/gf-roundup/ (http://) It will keep you busy for awhile. It has links to other articles and links to sites selling them.

I bought mine off ebay for 23 bucks and its worth getting the extra 100 mhz. The only problem is make sure you have a very good fan i.e thermaltake slot a fan and a case fan to blow behind the cpu. I ripped off first my classic 600 and then my tbird 900 case flawlessly . Make sure you go online a find a page that shows you how to do it. I wish i could adjust my front side bus on my 7ix or id probbly have 1100 mhz easy, I am upgrading to the kk266 and 1.333 chip for 230 bucks. I already have the crucial ram so i plan on getting up to 1550mhz in a few weeks

The GFD ist much simpler to do an they aren´t expensive anymore.
But be careful...as far as I know not all GFD´s do actually work with Slot A T-Birds as their where originally designed for Classic Athlons. But most should do the job.
Cracking the Athlon open is not too difficult by the way..
