Which would be the correct ram to run on an ASUS A7N8X-X running an XP 2800 which operates at 333 mhz FSB? Would it be 3200? or would 2700 ddr ram be just as effective?

Please, I'm desperate. I just purchased the components to construct a system, and I want to know if I made a BIG mistake, or a little one by ordering 2700 ram. I know a lot of you have the answer, and it would just take one of you to tell me. I beg you.

PC2700 would be fine if your arn't overclocking, but so would PC3200. It depends on what you want and what your willing to spend.

Thank you ^_^
I'd probably get at least PC3200, so you can do 200+ FSB with the 1:1 ratio. The faster RAM can be moved to a newer system once you upgrade again at some point in the future.

I would suggest PC3200 but PC 2700 is not definetely BIG mistake. Your system will be ok.

This is good to hear. I probably won't be overclocking it, but nobody wants to hear that they made a mistake after they just spent ALL their money on parts. Once again, thanks.

Don' t worry. But next time ask your questions BEFORE buying them. :D

Well, this seemed to be a case of becoming comfortable with my inner newbie. I didn't realize I was so out of date on computer parts. I mean, I'm upgrading from a pentium 3 to all new technologies. I read about all the new stuff, like harddrives with the 8mb cache, the newest graphics cards, Athlon XP's, MP's, pentium 4's, DDR RAM. For some reason my inner newbie didn't warn me before I hit the PURCHASE button. Silly me. I'm just lucky I knew about this place, because you guys are the best.
Edit/ Hey, how do those GF FX5200's with the 128mb DDR RAM stack up. It was about all I could afford, but I figure they are at least a little better than previous generation graphics cards. Am I right?

Sure, they are better than the old stuff but this is like the PC2700 vs. PC3200 thing you were asking. a FX 5200 will do fine in your current configuration but FX 5600 will serve you longer. But if you can't afford a FX5600 then thre is nothing to do.
And be aware that there some 128 bit and 64 bit graphics cards and they are both 128MB. Try to choose a 128-bit one.
