which is better, the thoroughbred or the barton,I know the thoroughbred has 256kb cache and the barton has 512kb cache, but the thoroughbred runs at 2133 mhz and the barton runs at 1902 mhz (I think)

So which is better?

Thanks in advance!

A Barton 2600+ will be better than a Thoroughbred 2600+.

But, a Barton 2500+ will be even better.

The Barton 2600+ have so far not been of the latest stepping, compared to the 2500+.

One of the newest steppings is the AQZFA.

I have an aqfza stable at 200*12.5 watercooled @ 2.0v. The thoroughbred 1800's clock higher than the bartons but the extra cache on the barton is worth another 100 mhz so the barton 2500 is the best buy.

If you want to get a XP w/ 256 KB L2, get either the Tbred B 1700+ DLT3C or the 1800+ DLT3C. It is the cheapest way for an excellent CPU w/ highest average MHz (AMD land).

If you want to get a Barton (512 KB L2), get the 2500+ w/ the latest stepping as others have pointed out.

good for CPU benchmark, oc MHz bragging, and satisfaction
more fun

Barton 2500+:
lower overclocking MHz
but makes up to same system performance (within +- 2-3%) due to bigger L2 cache (256 KB bigger)
less power and 3-4 C cooler for same system performance (to the 1700+/1800+)

Either one of them is excellent choice for price/performance
