I have tried to burn cd's using Roxio and WMP and I am unable to because a error message pops up that says the is no cd in the drive.

I have double checked that it is a blank cd and so on.

Any ideas why?

edit: I just realized this must be the most vague post ever 8). Im using Windows XP home, and some sort of Samsung cdrw

are you using a retail version of roxio? is your drive compatible with the software? this can be checked on roxio's site. they have a list of drives that are compatible under their software.
i am sure xp has some sort of burning plug-in embedded in their software. could be conflicting but don't quote me.

when you look at device manager is the device working properly?

Yes, I tried to disable/enable and update the drivers with no luck.
The problem is on a friends Dell 8150(?), it had roxio on it at purchase if I remeber correctly.

i would suggest totally uninstalling the previous version and if you are comfortable doing it, edit the registry of the roxio folder.
roxio's software is picky like that but when it works it is ok.
i was a believer of their products up until a year ago then i made the move to nero. nero is mint.
i will only use easy cd now to burn data and data only.

Try sending the desired file to the CD burner by dragging and dropping it into the CD icon. This typically will start the windows cd bURRNING PROGRAM THAT i THINK iS ROXIO ANY WAY LOL..sEE IF YOU ARE ABLE TO BURN THAT WAY WITH WINDOWS.....

If your using RW cd with easy cd you might have to format the cd first.
