Recieved 1.4Ghz in mail today I don't wana fry it on my EPoX 8K7A mobo plz help.

I currently fried my 1.2 Ghz in my Epox motherboard heatsink and thermal paste was on it as well as nonconductive shim.So that one fried I duno if It was to high of voltage or what.I left the jumpers the way it came and it wouldn't fire up but it did fry my cpu instead. = ( so now I dont wana fry my new 1.4 please reply I dont wana fry it maybe the voltage jumpers are set inncorrect the manual dont really specify how to set it correct.

you ahouls be able to return a fried cpu for a new one if it is under warranty...

Yea there replacing my 1.2 with a 950 AMD because its OEM but I just bought a 1.4 overnight express AYHJA $207 with overnight saturday express hehe . Im afraid to put that cpu in....

The only jumper settings that I had to change on my 8K7A were for the FSB. Everything else worked properly. I've only a heat sink and fan resting on the processor though, no shim. Best of luck to you.

Argh I tried ,my asus and epox motherboard and they both won't go on after 6 seconds. I don't wana fry my cpu after like 10 seconds btw the heatsink is on with artic silver2 GLOBAL WIN WBK-38 bah I replaced everything even tried 2 PSU's a 300 watt turbo links and a AOPEN psu both 300 watt.

tried bootin my AMD it wont bootup for nuttin with asus board a7m266 neither epox maybe i got fiddle with epox can any 1 help who knows about epox.

I'm talking about the "postman" codes (two LED's at the right of the 6th pci slot) I should be able to help you out I got the board too.

Global win WBK-38 w/Delta 6800rpm fan 36cfm its noisy lol,Artic 2 silver thermal paste. at about 9:20am EST ill be puting my EPoX in my case and taking out my asus board that don't work ill let paul know the error code I get. Btw my Asus A7M266 thats in there now don't bootup neither make any beeps.

I got it to work omg.... on my asus board I put some artic silver back on reseated my HSF and fiddled with jumpers and shes alive !!! Now all i gota do is get my EPoX to work and im off to 1700+ mhz watercooled w00t w00t. Do I need another PSU to overclock I have an extra AT 230 watt PSU with a switch sting to turn it on and off I can put like my fans heatsink and mm hard drive and CD rom , floppy on my AT psu and leave my 300 watter dedicated for my mobo and CPU, or shall I just go get a 430 watt enermax psu ?

lolZ.. Good luck on getting that cpu past 1.7ghz.. It is the most stubborn cpu out there regardless of what cooling you have. Most poeple strugle to get it at 1.5ghz let alone 1.7ghz. Mine is currently at 1.6ghz at 39c so cooling is not the problem. I think the highest i have seen one of these is 1.65 and the 1.82 done with the vapochill case. Be happy to reach 1.6ghz as this chip is virtualy the same chip as the rest of lower amd cpus which usauly max out at 1.6ghz. Have fun

ill probally reach about 1.7 or 1.8 i usually have luck,Im gona up that vcore to 2.03 and my ddr ram voltage VIO to 2.9v and lets see what happens ;-) I heard of people geting 1.7 air cooled lolz thats awesome.Im waiting to goto a store by my grampas to get a 5 position dipswitch and some Ohms so i can mod my asus a7m266 voltage and multiplier im a good at soldering since my dad taught me hes an electrician.If i have the voltage mod the cpu will take as much voltage as it needs to reach its max point of 1.7ghz+ or whaever.
