Does anyone know where I can buy molex pins, connectors, and different gauge wiring all at the same place, preferably cheap and in bulk? I want to play around with making a molex power strip and be able to make custon length molex connectors for each device.
Also, for you smart electrical geniuses, I want to take the two molex power chains and make preferable two separate 'power strips.' one with each molex. My question is, with my 300W power supply, how many molex connectors can I have on each chain and what gauge would be required for this to work?
I read some threads on this but none of them were completed so there wasn't really enough proof for me to do it.
Thanks for the help.
What 300watt power supply???

Is a good place to buy molex connectors...Male...Female...Pins...You can buy directly from them if you do not live in California...
:D
Try here, too...

As to how many on each chain, its going to depend more on what you intend powering than how many connectors.
BTW, Hookem, love your avatar.

I cant seem to find prices for the connectors on this site. Do i have to contact them for that?
here is another place that has Molex connectors and much more.

I'm not sure on the brand, I"m in class right now. I'll post when I find out. It was shipped from mwave with my crappy enlight case. It's 300W and I intend to run two harddrives, two cd-roms drives, a floppy, my vidcard, and a panflo fan. Should I get a better PSU first??
Thanks.

The PSU is an Award model WIN-300PS. So now that I have places to buy the molex connectors and pins, I need some wiring help. I was thinking that I would have two 'power stripes.' On one, I'd have the CD burner, the DVD drive, and one hard drive. Then on the other stip i would have the panflo 120, the second harddrive, and the video card. If I do this, what gauge would I need to use from the PSU to the 'strip' and what gauge from molex to molex on the strip.
Thanks for the help.
You can do that setup pretty much from the available molex already on the PSU.
I believe the average wire guage for PSUs is 18-20.

Heres another place.
Linky (http://www.frozencpu.com)
They have the neat UV ones. I also was going to put action-elec up as they have a great selection but someone beat me to it. :)

I was thinking and I plan to add two UV CCs to my case sometime in the not-to-distant future and I'd like to add one to each chain. I am going to order the molex connectors and wire so that I can make the wiring tidy and exact length. I am going to place two extra connectors for the CCs.
So the chains will look like this:
PSU->CD burner->DVD ROM->120GB HD->CC
PSU->vid card->panlfo->60GB HD->CC->floppy
With that much on each chain, will 18 gauge wire be suffieicent. I will start from attaching my chains to the inside of the PSU. Also, does anyone know how much current can run through a molex connector before it gets hot or melts?
Thanks for all the help.
Also, would it worthwhile to get a better PSU? Look above for my current power supply.
give me amperages, I'll tell you what gauge you need, got my electronics textbook handy.

I don't know how much right now. But could you tell me how much a certain gauge can handle? I'm thinking of using 18 throughout.
Could you tell me the amount 16, 18, 20, 22 can handle?
Thanks.

anyone?
I am not so sure you want to buy the tooling. My crimpers cost about $300 U.S. each. Molex is big in industrial applications, try the local electronic component supplier. BTW I was thinking about shortening my cables to match my case, instead I just hid them the best I could

My Grandfather has all the tooling. My problem is that my wires aren't long enough to hide and I have a few Y splitters that are forced to hang in the middle of the case. So that my motivation.
I'm just trying to figure out which gauge to use to all the things. I'm thinking 18 would work, but I can't find anywhere that tells me how much current it can handle and how much current the devices will pull.
Thanks again for all the help.
