I had the exact same chip. I got it to 1G at 2.05V with a big HSF (MC-462A), but it guzzled power like a "Sailor on Liberty". Eventually sold it to a guy on a tight budget.

they normally started at 700mhz, the 650 was meant for OEM's but amd never sold them (back when no OEM wanted amd cpu's) so they were sold off, I think gen-x computers where the guys that bought them. I heared most should reach 900,933 with 1.85 but I max out at the above. I too have a mc462, I took the 80mm off and put 2 92mm on it. Mobo is 26c and I idle at 27c and full load at 31c. I also have an ac unit I have on most of the time that makes the mobo 16c, idle at 16c and full load at 19c :) I am going to be voltage moding my mobo as soon as I can find the right pot. I just finished moding my mobo to have a more stable 5v and it totally helped the system stay stable, which will be really good for when I start putting 2v+ into the cpu. Anyone else to the 5v stability mod on there mobo? Nice to see it only took 2.05 for you, might not have to be the 2.2v I thought it might have to. Anyway it is, my swiftech can handle it and now my psu has better voltage for it too. I'll see how far it will go before I get rid of it in favour for a 1ghz or 1.2ghz axiar.

I've got one of those "rare" 650 T-BIRDS, mine's a blue core. The best that I could get out of mine was in the 850MHz range. I've tried it on five different boards with similar results on each. After having very good results with a couple of DURON 600's, I was disappointed with the results of this CPU. Although a 30% plus increase is really a pretty good return for my efforts.

Mine was a Tbird with L1 traces locked.

Socket A, unlocked.

yeah, they are indeed the socket a (tbird) cpu's. I've posted about the cpu data base being updated with these rare cpu's but one of the mods said they are pretty busy and it will take some time. Tomarrow I am getting a proper welding iron, the huge 140watt gun I have now is too big and too hot for soldering to the voltage chip on my iwill. I will hope to get 1ghz. Remember, these are tbirds and not durons so the actual speeds gain by overclocking is greater.

darn, didn't get a small soldering iron today, hopefully tomarrow so I can do the voltage mod.

in case anyone is still reading this thread, I voltage moded my mobo and I am now running the cpu at 1ghz at 2.1vcore. It is stable as can be but the 5v line on my psu has dropped considerably because of the voltage mod. It gets down to 4.71 at full load (which was the point where my system crashed before I did the 5v stability mod). That is a little lower than I want it to be at even though the system is stable. If your familiar with the 5v mod, I only have 2 mosfets connected to the 5v line so I have 6 I could potentially use, but I wouldn't want to use more than 4 as I heard using them all can mess your mobo up. Any thoughts?

I have an even rarer tbird. Its a 650 slot-a. Since its still a bird and 650 Ill post. My best stable oc was 892 105x8.5 and 2.05 vcore. Temps where 36°c under load with an amb of 27° running a custom wc setup with DD amazing block. Temps are taken with a flat probe touching the core. Also notice how I said was. Well my chip finally said enough is enough and every cpl of weeks I had to back it off a notch to run 100% stable. After a few months Im sitting at 683.... Hasnt been a better time then recently to upgrade anyway.
