Ok, atm I have two systems. The problem is I normally start a SETI WU each night on both machines, return in the morning only to find...

SETI@Home Console has shutdown.
Whenever I try to start any program I get "Cannot run application not enough memory"
I cannot restart w/o hard reset.

I really am starting to get annoyed with this, here is a REALLY detailed list about my computers to help anyone diagnose this...

1100Mhz AJFA ThunderBird @ 1133Mhz
Super ThermoSonic Engine w/ AS and w/ Delta 7.2k and 80mm Doppler fan
(Serious air cooling!)
ABit KT7A Motherboard
256 Mb PC133 RAM - (128Mb MAX PC143 @ 333 and 128Mb MAX PC150 @ 222)
RAM Settings - Turbo, 4-Way Interleave, Frequency = 137.52Mhz
Hercules GeForce3 220Mhz/495Mhz
3COM TCP b10 network card
Dynamode 56k modem
SBLive! Platinum w/ drive in use
45Gb IBM Deskstar HDD ATA100 7200rpm
Creative 52x CD-ROM
Generic 300w PSU in use w/ motherboard, HDD
Generic 230w PSU in use w/ all others & neon
Running Win98 w/ AMnRefridgerator as cpu cooler
Ambient 29ºC , Idle 38ºC , Load 43ºC (Are these temps high because of
mobo thermometer inaccuracies? I hope so for the friggin cooling im using)

800Mhz Duron @ 1000Mhz
ThermoSonic Engine w/ AS w/ 23cfm Taisol fan and 80mm Doppler fan
ABit KT7 Motherboard
256Mb PC133 RAM - (128Mb MAX PC133 @ 333 and 128Mb MAX PC135 @ 333)
RAM Settings - Default 8ns/10ns, 4-Way Interleave, Frequency = 133.33Mhz
GeForce 256 DDR 32Mb Annihilator Pro
3COM TCP b10 network card
AWE 64 Gold 4Mb Edition
17Gb Fijitsu 5200rpm IDE66@33 ?
Creative 52x CD-ROM w/ turbo
Generic 230w PSU in use w/ all (Yes I know Im mad but it works)
Running Win98 w/ AMnRefridgerator as cpu cooler
Temperature in summer atm ...
Ambient 28ºC , Idle 32ºC , Load 36ºC

Ok that was exhastive. Now what is causing my computers to give me these errors after I come back to them?

After you restart do they work properly then? or are they both still messed up?

This may be a stupid question but did you do a virus scan or use win doctor yet?

When I restart my computers are absolutely fine, which makes me think its memory corruption or something.

No, I dont use virus scanners btw. Im very cautious about what I download. I havent had so much as a macro virus since 1996. IMO virus scanners are over-rated and are mainly for computer newbies who dont know what their downloading from the net.

But anyways, I still need help. It definately isn't a virus. It must be something in common w/ both pc's though as they both have the exact same problem. Only thing I can think of is it being the mobo (KT7 & KT7A)

You might try rebooting both the boxes before you start the SETI@home prog at night.

Yeah, I might try that but I dont think its going to help.
What else could solve these problems. Remember both PCs have the same bug.

You say you don't have a virus, then you say you have no virus checker installed. A friend who is "very" careful complained that he had problems with a system I had built for him. No downloads, but plenty of internet access, he had 147 infected .exe files. Recently I have been suprised as to where viruses are lurking and I thought that I was careful.
It might not be your problem, but it's always worth installing a virus checker. Even if it's just a demo for the time being. You can always disable them after using the Internet if your worried about resources.

I have a virus scanner, I dont have an ALL the time one though. I scanned my system about 2 weeks ago. No problems. Its not a virus.

Sorry :) right have you tried freeing up conventional memory for DOS based programs. You may have something loaded thats eating a large portion of DOS's available memory. Try this link for more info http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Coast/6079/Windows/Help/Cmem.htm

I dont think its conventional memory. Apparently from what I've heard from my mates, they all get this problem. Its kinda like having 3dmax 4 running for too long; bye bye memory.

I would try disabling AMnRefridgerator.

why?
