I recently signed up for BT Broadband. The modem I am currently using to connect is a D-Link DSL-300+ ethernet modem.
The Broadband connection does not require that i enter a password when i connect. I am currently connecting via a "dial-up" window on the pc rather than specifying settings within the modem because when I do it appears to have issues when a password is not specified (in my case, none is required by my ISP).
Connecting to the modem directly causes no problems, as does connecting through a hub/switch. However, when trying to connect utilising the internet sharing facilities on my new Linksys WRT54G router it refuses to work.
I have updated firmware on the router (no firmware update was available for the modem), and specified the login name the modem requires in the router settings (although not in the modem on-board settings as this never appears to work even when directly connected to the pc). Also, when connecting the modem into the internet sharing connection port on the router, the usual 'dial-up' window method of specifying a username within windows does not work.
Any one got any ideas what I may be doing wrong? Any advice peeps could give me on this one would be sweet as I'm kinda thumping me head against a brick wall at the moment. lol.
