After getting my system setup I installed Win2k server which IMO has been incredibly stable for me so far. The system ran awful with many lockups, I didnt even get into checking temps and whatnot due to the problems being so bad. I installed Win2k Pro instead. Pro on the average runs about 9 or 10 less processes than server at idle. The machine has locked up twice in 2 days now, which still isnt acceptable.

I have the regular PSU fan, the retail box CPU fan (which seems decent) and a 80mm in the front of the case. I have yet to even put the case back on mind you. After waking up this morning it was about 75+degrees in the house, checking my HW monitor it showed the cpu at 49c at idle which seems way too hot. But then again, I dont know numbers. What kind of temps should I expect? BTW, its 70 degress in my house right now and its at 44c doing nothing but writing this message. I was into overclocking back with older CPU's and got out of it for the last 3-4 years or so, so I'm all green again.

I just bought a 85cfm fan from radio shack, and will be replacing the 80mm one in front with it. Hopefully that will drop me down a few more degrees.

49C at idle? IDLE?
Way over acceptable. If you're using a retail sink, get a new HSF, a much better one. I'll let other tell which are good, as I'm not up-to-date with heatsinks.

49C at full load is acceptable, but not on idle. Even 44C at idle is unacceptable.

Read some reviews and decide what is best for your situation.

I have the same setup you have. I have overclocked the cpu to 1.33 (10 x 133) and set the voltage in the bios at 1.70 (MBM 5 shows the voltage between 1.75-1.79). I am using the Glaciator and my ambient temp is about 27C. My idle cpu temp is 32C and my full load cpu temp is 47C. I would like to overclock this puppy some more, but I really don't want to go into the mid 50's until I learn if this temp is really too high or not. I have a 120mm front case fan and a 92mm rear case fan. I want to install more fans but am concerned about the noise. Hope this helps.

The difference in what the iwill kk266 sensor reports and the actual cpu temp has be noted to be 5c-10c so your temps are even higher than what is reported. Having that in mind, when the cpu is actually loaded the system crashes. Your going to have to get better heatsink and maybe buy a ac unit for your room?
