weirdest thing, i had a weak ass generic orb installed on my t-bird. the thing with that is that it wouldnt fit on the damn sock, there were modules in the way. so i did some quick thinking and cut out some fins. though nothing happened to the cpu, i didnt realize that the temp was going at a whooping temp of 68C!!!. OMG u'd think it would've fried. but the strangest thing was that it was stable. the comp never froze nor did the cpu fry. it proves to show that havin that high temp for so long is safe.

PS. got a new cooler, shot at the weak orb. =p tossed it.

Hopefully the new HSF cools better.Slot T-birds max temp is 70C and socket T-birds max is 95C. So you were safe.

You may having inaccurate readings as well. I have had that happen with my Asus set up. But do yourself a favor and buy a good HSF.
