Currently i have 2*256 OCZ PC3700 Gold modules on an abit ic-7 and a malaysian week 9 2.4C watercooled ( soon to watercool the NB and gfx card)

My rig runs 100% stable @ 275FSB using a 5:4 divider.

Memory freq: 220Mhz
Memory timings: 2-2-3-5 (2.8v)
CPU: 3300Mhz (1.55v)

Sisoft Sandra: 5982/5949

I was thinking of selling my RAM and try something newer, like the Corsair XMS Pro series or OCZ PC4200 PP. Should i expect significant performance gain or will it be just a waste of $$$? If no, which of the two do you think will be most suitable for my system?

They both use the same chips. The chips on the PC3700 are already given the good treatment (sanded down, ect.). I would suggest you volt mod your $140 motherboard before you spend $300 on some PC4200. The extra voltage will most likely help more then a slightly better hand-picked chip.

most guys that buy the good pc4000-4200 have or are planning to run a 2.4 at very high fsb frequncies 1-1. if you had a screaming chip capable of high 3.5's or 3.6, and wanted to run a high 1-1 memory ratio and didnt have any dual channel memory, ok. but dont go out and spend an extra 200 bucks when the memory u have is perfectly fine.

Good memory performance is all about tight timings and high FSB, and the PC4000/4200 SUCK running with tight timings. You should be really happy with your memories. Remember, FSB is everything, don't sacrifice your FSB just to run in 1:1. Instead try to get higher on the CPU.
