Anyone else recently get any bad AXIA core chips? Last week i got a 1.33 AXIA t-bird from Icompz. I have a 156 watt peltier/water cooled setup. My temps stay around 20*c full load. Now when i went to overclock this thing, the pos would only go up to 1466 stable. What a pos!!!!, i am so pissed. Why am i so lucky that i get a fooked chip. I was better off running my old 1.1 @1.4. I expected it to atleast hit 1.5-1.6 if not more. The weird thing is this chip would not even post on my Iwill board, but runs normal on a MSI and Abit board. Though the chip was doa at first. Anyone else have probs like this?
I tried to exchange it for another one, but the people at Icompz wont fall for any stupid excusses. Plus when they see dielectric grease all over it, they will think something fishy was up. Maybe i should put it up for sale on e-bay. I mean it is a AXIA core, people will buy.

Its too bad that you got that chip but you shouldnt sell it off to somebody else because then you will be handing them the problems your having. Tinker around with it and you might get lucky, but if its a 'bad chip' then dont hand it off to someone else(without telling them)

trust me i tried every possible combination to try to get it to run stable at higher speeds. I got so pissed that i bashed in the top of my addronics tower with my fist. Now i gotto order a replacement part for that. there is no way that im going to get stuck with that $140 pos. I know its not really cool, but it's not cool that i got this pos excuse for a AXIA chip. There is a reason i spent a ****load on a heavy duty cooling setup and thats to overclock a good chip.
Grow up man.
Ya pay your money, ya take your chances....just like everybody else.
If you wanted a foolproof OC you should have bought a pre-tested chip.
If you knowingly sell that chip to someone else who is looking to OC then you are a tried and true A**hole.
nuff said.
Kyle @ [H]ardOCP had a problem with his chip not even hitting 1466 and he took at his suposed 300w psu and said "yeah, maybe if lightning hit it!!". So he replaced it with a 550 I think, and now he is htting 1.7gig. Try that?
I'm annoyd my 1gig will only do 1.33 (at the momment, not fiddled enough)
yeah maybe it is your ram have you tried the chip in another setup? you could sell it cuz 1.466 isn't too bad but I think you where trying for more like 1.6 if I am not mistaken. does your mobo have a voltage mod to up it to 2.05 or so?

The power supply im using is a 430watt Enermax, the only other psu i could try is a 300watt Antec. I never checked before but the combined voltage reating on that psu is 220watts, could that be a prob?
Iv'e been messin with it all day, and so far it seems to be good at 1502 143x10.5, this it with only a Alpha 6035 heatsink with a 5000rpm fan(132*F under full load). The same as i got with my peltier.
I have Infineon ram that will run at 157 fsb cas2. I have used that 256mb stick in a couple different systems with no probs, so i dont think thats it. Its only running at 143fsb in my kt7a-r. I tried o/c the chip with all default settings, but that did not make a difference.
Its at the highest voltage setting 1.85. Iv'e tried everything below that with no luck.
Thx for your opinion there ripper, i think of ya the same pal.
Not all AXIAs overclock well. I have one that will only do 1379 MHz. None the less, since I have purchased a new AYJHA, several people have asked if I would sell them the AXIA.

I have a axia1.33 tbird and cant go above 1.47 on any combination fsb or multiplier.I have a epox 8KTA3 with dual 300 watt pwr supplys. All I have in the box is a western digital ata100 and a realtek nic. The ram is kingston 768 cas 3 , has been up to 150mhz. why cant I go any higher?
You roll the dice and take your chances. If you want a sure thing buy a pre-tested chip. Sometimes the results can be unpredictable. I have a 1.2 AXIA and a 1.2 AXHA. With a FOP38 the AXIA would make 1440 and the AXIA would only do 1.33 but here is the strange part the AXHA would run stable at 1584(5 months at this speed now) when chilled to -17 degrees and there was no gain at all chilling the AXIA! You just never know so keep tweaking.

Budzman,
First off, Ripper was correct in stating that if you knowingly resell a "Bum" AXIA you are, nah won't go there..
Secondly, although he did revert to bashing you for being juvenile, that did not excuse your response.
Finally, The poor, inanimate and innocent Addrtonics tower, did not deserve a thump. It had nothing to do w/ your "Bum" chip.
As the Ripper said, Grow up.
By the way, hope you fix your problem. This is just friendly advice.
There is nothing wrong with selling the chip, as long as you disclose it's speed limits. Strange as it may seem to us, there are lots of folks who buy T-Birds and do not overclock them.

Where do you find such people? LOL!!!
Da Whip,
I hope your comment was in jest.

Colin, of course it was in jest. Are we a little thin skinned today?
Naw, I just didn't see a smilie in the post. Thanks for the clarification.
