Just saw one for 5$ in cvber deals but it's analog, not digital if that matters to you.

should I buy a resistor there? last time I bought a rheostat at radio shack i ignited killing my harddrive and dvd drive.......I want a grabber or whatever so I can do a vdimm mod :D.....can someone point me to a good one?
Search the forum, I thought I saw someone on the forum selling a kit for that.

Go to Sears. They often have sales on their small Craftsman multimeters. Normally, $20, they are sometimes reduced to $10. Radio Shack is pretty much the last place I'd go to for a multimeter unless they're having a sale.
If you want quality, Fluke would be my recommendation.

a mulit meter is what I would use to measure the voltage for a vdimm mod and vdd mod right?

Yeah, a multimeter would work fine.
