my system:
duron 800@1000 superorb
geforce 2 pro 32mb (240/400)
asus a7v-133
384mb ram
seagate barracuda 3 30gb
winme

drivers:
nvidia 12.41 official
via 4in1 431 (also tried 432 no diff)
liveware 3 for win2k
direct x 8
giants 1.4 patch

a few weeks ago with winme my cpu runs seti for hours straigt and the MAX temp is 55c, i then installed win2k, but didnt like it cause d3d games were slow and returned to winme. after installation of winme if my duron is clocked at 1000 when windows loads it will say cant acess registrey plrease repair, i can end task this, and the system will work but then explorer illegal operations become very common. and many games wont work. at 992mhz the system is ok.

does anyone know y this is? cause my duron was at 1000 b4

thanks

Sounds like ME to me. Stupid ME.

My brother had the same problem with his installation. I had heard a comment in my travels that ME is very sensitive if your system was overclocked. I couldn't get my brothers Duron 700@900 to run stable for more than a reboot, while ME worked fine before on his old Celeron 400. He installed Windows 2000 and everything is fine even without un-overclocking. If I were you I would give 2000 another chance, it isn't that much slower for gaming at all.

Have your ambient temps increased? It's summer in the Northern hemisphere.
