dvi port for 8500 LE

im sure this has been brought up before, but since i cant do a search for dvi addon in the search function for this board il post it hoping someone can help me out..

anyway i was looking at my 8500 LE today and once again looked at the missing dvi port and then to my spare monitor lieing around and wishing i had a dvi port so i could get dual monitors runnning.. then i looked and saw all the right holes for the dvi port are already there and remember seeing a dvi option in my control panel.. so i was wondering where i could find a dvi port to solder onto the board? does anyone know where i can just buy a dvi port for like 5 bucks or something? or if anyone knew of a supercheap board with a dvi port on it that i can desolder and put on this one?

you might look into getting a PCI card to run the second monitor.

why not solder a dvi port? and turn my 8500le into a full 8500?

i already have the card flashed to a 8500 rom.. all its missing is a dvi port..

Do you really think the video card would be exactly the same execpt minus the DVI port? I highly doubt it. There will be some extra circuitry to control the DVI out. Sure, you could solder on all the extra components...but what will those components cost, are you good at surface mount soldering, and what's your time worth??

from what ive seen its that one compont. and my time is worth a lot really, but that doesnt mean i dont have time for things i enjoy, which in this case would be soldering and seeing how far i can take this LE to retail standards.. so far its ROCK PERFECT solid at retail speeds as it should be, it still has a lot of room left also.

My LELE had a DVI port.....
Thats no help to you is it though, if you asked ATI if the one without DVI port could have one attached Im sure they could tell you.

if its a 128 mb LE and has a DVI port than its not a ATI its a powered by ATI in other words a third brand.

well anyone have willing to donate a crapy card with a dvi port or just a dvi port, and il try it out.

I'd give you my old 8500LE (has a DVI port), but it still has a bit of life left in the thing :D I'll see if I can find any DVI ports on online electronics stores though :)
