What sort of speeds should I be getting out of my 850 TBird?
I can get 1Ghz by upping the multiplier, but any more and the system seems to crash. Also when I get to about 45 degrees things also seem to crash.
Cheers

seems to me you should be able to get more but it all depends on the chip could be the limit for the one you have.im assuming it is not the ram(hope its not generic)i have the same board and i disable the 4x agp and up the cas latency for the ram to 3 and and use the 133/33 bus with the multiplyer to acheive the best results for me im using a t-bird 900 the clock for me is set at 8.5 and get 1130

Same here when I reach about 45c my crap starts to blue screen on my 1.4Ghz. I think Im gona get a new hsf and power supply or im gona use my watercooler.as for you I think you can reach about 1200mhz with a new hsf whats the code of you'r 850 ? and what bus do you have?

well thats a very bold statement.none have made it that far yet in the cpu data base and the ones who have made it past 1150 have modified their chips by crossing the bridges that control the volts (i think)and have watercooling so i would settle for 1100 or a little more and consider it a good overclock.

My recommendation ... check out the cpu database on the front page. The database is a good resource for answering these type questions. For your chip the database says........
"Total Entries in Database for T Bird 850 - 150
Average overclocked speed - 1017 Mhz "
