Hello Guys

I am looking to speed up things a bit with my PC.
It is home built and have used:

Model: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2700+
Speed: 2.19GHz
Monitor/Panel: Cornerstone p1500

Hardrive: Maxtor 33073U4 (160 GB )
Revision: BAC51KJ0
Cache Size: 512kB (1024 sectors)
Hard Disk: Maxtor 6Y160P0 (30 Gb - Backup)
CD-ROM/DVD: AOPEN CD-RW CRW2040
CD-ROM/DVD: HITACHI DVD-ROM GD-7500

Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 (128 ram)

VGA Compatible: No
Total Memory: 128MB (127MB Video) (62MB AGP)
Texture Memory: 189MB
Supports DIME Texturing: Yes

Sandra Reports this:
Memory Module Generic:
256MB 8x(32Mx8) DDR-SDRAM PC2700U-2533-700 (CL2.5 up to 167MHz) (CL2 up to 133MHz)

Temps are :
Board Temperature: 42.0°C / 107.6°F
CPU Temperature: 37.0°C / 98.6°F
Power / Aux Temperature: 62.0°C / 143.6°F td
CPU Voltage: 1.68V
Aux Voltage: 2.58V

Bios
Version: F9 (Installed F12 though)
Date: 09/23/2003
Plug & Play Version: 1.00
SMBIOS/DMI Version: 2.30
(EE)PROM Size: 512kB (4Mbit)

OK ---

For me to get the CPU to 2700 I ran X 22.5 multiplier on the bois.. Bad? I do not know..
the FSB is at 97 / AGP automatic / Memory "by Speed" 333mhz

When I try to go highter on the FSB or memory It hangs..
Henge I think I am screwing too much with the CPU multiplier...

Should I got lower on the CPU and higher on the FSB..

Help...

Thanks

Daniel Rodriguez

Yes you want to go a lot lower on the multi and get the FSB as high as you can, 200 if possible. Also make sure your CPU and DDR are set 100% in the BIOS, also set your AGP to 66 unless you are intending to OC it. By the looks of it you have PC2700 but do you know what brand it is.

Hello

Thanks for the help I really do not know the memory brand..
I can not get to go over 166 on the fsb. AGP is at 66 and the multiplier is now at 13.. to get 2700. but I can not get anything else.
FSB 200 / auto on memory / AGP 66 / Multilplier at 11 and nothing.. but blank screen. ..

THanks

DAniel

It will be your DDR that is holding you back I think, but even with crap PC2700 you should manage over 166FSB. Try dropping the multi down to 11x and slowly increase the FSB one or 2 MHz at a time. I would think you should manage mid 170 at the least but if you cant then the DDR is definately holding you back.
Once you have found your max FSB then its a case of increasing the multi to see how far you can push the CPU, remember that more FSB for a given CPU speed will give better performance, eg 12x 180FSB is better than 12.5x 173 which is better than 13x 166 even thoughthe CPU is approx the same MHz.

Hello

Wanted to let you guys know I found out a couple of things.

Memory wise:
I had put the 2 modules together Bank 0/1 Instead of
Bank 1 / 3 to get the dual channel band widht ' Is it worth it I donno know.

Sandra reports:

Second: I played around a bit and got AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2700+
Speed: 2.19GHz

-12V Voltage: -9.15V
-5V Voltage: -4.40V
Standby Voltage: 3.17V
Battery Voltage: 4.08V

++++
Temps: I am concern about it. So I need to know what is a good cooler for the CPU?

I got it to 199MHZ FSB at 11X CPU multiplier..
Have not tried any higher..

Am I stressing the system too much?

Also speaking of memory What are your thoughts on OCZ 3200 sticks?
I live near Tiger Direct and might get a good price from them?

Thank you for your help..

Daniel
