i want to add a 2nd hard drive ....how?

I already have a maxtor 80gb hard drive and i want to add a 2nd one. I want to have all my music files and videos on that one. . How do i connect it to my system?

You plug it into the IDE cable.

If you can put it on a seperate IDE channel from your other hard drive that is best.

There are two IDE channels on your mobo - there is one IDE cable that goes into each IDE channel - there are two connectors on each IDE cable.

The connector on the end of the IDE cable is for the device you want to run as master, and the connector in the middle of the IDE cable is for the device you want to run as slave.

Before you connect your device you want to look at the jumper on the device that is near the IDE connection pins. Set this jumper according to which IDE connector you are going to plug it into to - master or slave. It is best to use Master if possible.
