I was just wondering if you guys had the so called "problem" of your computer heating up your room. It really doesnt bother me thats why I called it a "problem" but I noticed if I keep my computer off while im not home (which is rare because i usually always have it on) ill come home and my room will be cold. After running my computer for about an hour or 2 itll get pretty freakin warm in here but I guess iv just gotten used to it because it doesnt bother me but other people come in here and they are like WOW its hot in here blah blah. Anyway i was just wondering if this happend to anyone else. The room is about 12x13 too btw.

Yup! My computers heat the back half of the house. It's nice now that the weather has cooled off, but this summer it was a bit of a problem.

At work I am building two P4 3.2Ghz machines and I really feel the difference in my 150 square foot office. They really heat things up.

Yea, same here. My computer is on all the time, in addition to my laptop being on 24/7. My room is the hottest room in the house. Its fine in the winter because I just close the heat vents in my room, but in the summer sometimes I have to sleep in a different room. It does get really hot in here sometimes.

haha the whole back of the house...thats crazy I like the part about the weather or the temp too cause if the a/c temp is pretty low and its cold throughout the house its always warm in my room and im a tropical person haha

Yes I can heat the whole back of the house. Just a few boxes churning out SETI work units. This fall I swapped out the old slow boxes for some heavy hitting 3.2Ghz P4's. Now running 5 PC's in the computer room, totaling 13.4Ghz, 2 more coming on line in the next few weeks.

I have 3 pc's strategically placed in my house. I never use the heater, and in the winter its a nice 75f.

I've only got 4 in my computer room running full load folding and it will get up to the mid 90's in there in the summer with the A/C set on 75. That room is going to feel great with no heat running this winter! :)

Just another thing....Have you guys ever had your computer pull so much power from a power outlet that other stuff couldnt be ran on it? I had this problem during the summer...I went outta town and took the big ole' beast with me and had it plugged into one of those things that you can plug 6 things into 1 socket with and this thing had my computer, monitor,a "in window a/c",and some other crap hooked to it. When I had my computer on the "in window a/c" couldnt be turned on or it would suck juice from the monitor and the monitor would turn off and if you got that far the compressor for the a/c wouldnt come on haha but with a different computer plugged in or none at all it was just fine.

Yes it does!!! my room is the hottest room in the whole house. imagine, its already fall and it feels like summer in my room. i had to put back my a/c on the window to help me cool my room.

My computers heat the whole upstairs in my house, especially the small 10 x 12 room they are in, when you walk through the door way... which HAS to be kept open at all times(except the summer when its closed all the time with the AC on) you can feel a wall of heat as you pass through the door, the upstairs in my house never drops below 75 and the heat up here is completely off

Yep, the 5 I got in here heat up the room quite nicely in the winter. Kind of a pain in hte butt in the summer though. It's the three monitors in here though that really heat things up when they're all on at the same time.

Yeah my computer heats my room up, and its really small too. Thats one reason i din't get a TEC.

last year at univ the place i lived in had an a55hole of a landlord and all the guys living on the bottom floor had cold, very cold rooms except for mine....

my roommates always noticed that it was always nice and warm in my room for some reason... thank you to Mr. Palomino!

If I left my cooling system in a closed room (little ventilation) I would have paint peeling from the walls. The heat that is blown off 10 TECs (peltiers) is enough to heat my whole home... fortunately it's vented outside =p.

Otherwise, yes... the heatercores and system fans add a decent amount of heat to the room.

Aye. There have been a few threads on it but it's all in 'testing' at this stage. I'll probably have a finished article on the whole experiment in 6 weeks or so. But yeah... it's hot.

my room rises a good 5-8 degrees F with my primary rig running...waiting for those winter temps lol

My room is the warmest room in the house; in the summer. I keep my door shut in the winter cause we keep the rest of the house around 76°F in the winter and my room will get hotter than in the summer.

Right now I have my window open and it is 73° in here, and 40° outside.

I have around 20 computers running in my basement ranging from Pentium 133's to an athlon 500. I figured if I put them in the basement, heat rises and it heats part of the house. OR at least assists the furnace. They run seti 24/7 and run quite warm.

Yeah, my computer heats up my room also and the whole downstairs area also, pretty crazy considering I live in MN with pretty darn cold winters.

I had to add the two 120mm fans to my A/c duct because It's never cold in the Sunshine state. God played an evil trick on me. When I first came down here to Florida to evaluate if I could live here being from New England, 7 years ago the first day I was here it snowed lightly and was hovering around 30 degrees in Dec. I said I can live here!! ...For 6 years now I have waited for a cold snap let alone a 50-60*farenheit day......I haven't turned my heat on in years. But My A/c has never stopped running. I bet if I do turn my heat on I'll die from carbon monaxide due to the heater not being used in years.

while i runn all of my systems all the time, i noticed that the heat issue went away, after i started turning off the monitors and video cards when they are not in use (all but main system 10 min idle shut off) and i noticed a 7-8c drop in temp and i know i am using alot less power with 2 of the 3 19 inch montiors off most of the time.

MY computer heats my my enitre apartment...that isn't saying much since it's a 1 bedroom loft...but in the summer...omfg.....I have to leave the AC on almost 24/7!!!! My PC is downstairs and since heat rises...during winter it is nice and cozy in my open upstairs bedroom. :D

It seems everyone is saving a fortune on heating bills. Generally when i come home from college, the temp in my room is about 17*C. I turn on the PC and by midnight, its usually 25/26*C. Thats 9*Celsius increase.
I'd swear its the 19" monitor, as much as the rig, if I touch the back of it its well warm - you can actually feel the heat rising out of it. And the whole setup is in the center of the 14' X 9' room, so that doesn't help matters. The amp on the DTT3500 gives off a strange amount off heat too.
Opening the window helps loads, it usually bout 5*C at night these days...:(

Yep, I've got 4 computers in one room. To make it worse it's the sunroom out of all places in the house. The bad thing is my main rig crapped out on me, so now it's not so hot in here anymore.

During the winter, I leave the window open and it's still warm in my room. Of course, I have three overclocked PCs in here (2 1700+ watercooled, and on P4), so it gets toasty. During the summer it gets really bad :p.

to help with heat you could always hook up some ventilation ducts to outside and in winter have the cold air blow in and hot air out then it wont affect your room too much

Everyone on this forum should be on some kind of international dedicated power grid. :D
I wonder what the power consumption will be like on the release day of HF2?

With my A/V Receiver, computer and monitor on it get's pretty darn hot in my room. That's why I always turn off my monitor/receiver if I let the comp on, but I'm not home.

I keep my computer on running seti as an excuse that it's "warming my room up". I don't actually think that it helps that much, but it must some. Brrr chilly.

Yeah, my tiny room (7x10ft) is a lot warmer than other rooms in my house. I think my monitor (21" trinatron) puts out at least as much as my overclocked p4. My roughter and cable modem can get quite warm as well. My laptop cpu runs at around 70C folding! Sometime i will do an expariment and mesure how much my room heats up after turning on the comp.

very very bad case of computer heating my room here.
my room is ALWAYS at LEAST 4 degrees F warmer than all the other rooms in the house.
