Hi all,
I just bought my 1.4ghz AYHJA and put it together.
Coolermaster DP5-6I31-A1
Asus A7A-266 (with audio)
256mb PC2100
Radeon VE 32mb DDR
The system is running idle between 47C at 1.87v. The system is new enough that the most load I have done is to play TuxRacer, and then it went to 51C.
How hot should this get? I am migrating from a 266 P1, so I am completely inexperienced at this.
Any suggestions for cooling it? The fan was the one that AMD approved for that CPU (according to partspc.com)

what are you ambient temps? About 30c or more?
Coolermaster is your problem, get the thermalright sk6 w/delta and i guranntee your temps will go down 10 c

What exactly do you mean by ambient?
I don't know my case temp, but the motherboard is 37-38C (or a little lower), and the room is 24-25C.

yeah, your mobo temp is pretty much your case ambient. Getting the SK6 would help your temps go down but not as much as it should. Even your coolermaster isn't perform the way it should. The reason is you probably don't have enough air flowing in and out of your case. Mobo temp of 37c is quite high, expesially when your talking a 24c room temp.

Ambient = air temp
You need better case ventilation. You should be able to get your case to with in 1C of ambient. This will bring down the temps with the Coolermaster. Investing in a better HSF will help too but better case ventilation can't be ignored.
I recommend a Golden Gate / Gladiator (http://svcompucycle.com/) and a lot more case ventiation.

What would you reccomend for case cooling?
I've seen a couple cheap fans (80mm on the front, and one that takes 43cfm and uses a PCI slot mount), would those be of any help?
