View Full Version : Moving operating system

I recently purchased a new HD and according to benchmarks I've run it's 2x as fast as my old one.
My operating system (WinXP) is installed on the old drive and I would like to move it to the new drive.
My drives are C:\ (old drive), d:\ (new drive), and E:\ , F:\ (old drive).
I have Partition Magic 6.0SE, is there a way I can create a new partition on the D:\ and move the operating system there?
Any advice would be appreciated as I don't really want to screw this up, and also would rather not re-install everything again to accomplish it.

Thanks!

Mel

use drive image 7 or ghost to make an "image" of current hard drive

make your new hard drive as master and a C drive NOT D drive if the only OS you want is winxp

use above image software to RESTORE

quick and easy solution

Just use the software that came with your new drive or download iot from the drive manufacturer. Most of them have cloning software to move all your stuff to the new drive:D
