WEll, that's really not good. Amazing how fast those darn cpus burn up.

Maybe get a swiftech next. That thing won't fall off because of how it's mounted.

Bummer man, I am really sorry to hear about the fight with your wife. The toasted chip is not that important. We have all done that and they are easily replaced. One of the great secrets of life is how to keep you wife happy. It's so simple, pay attention to her, even if she only thinks you are paying attention to her. A very wise old man taught me this and I love every minute of it. Sure makes replacing toasted CPUs easier! :)

Yep, it seems I have that same discussion (read I get yelled at) with my wife. I get caught up doing something and next thing I know I've been on the PC for 4 hours.

Man time flies when you're having fun!

man, all i can say is go to bed, spend a little quality time with your wife, and get a load off (if you know what I mean : ) You'll wake up in the morning feeling like a new man, and a couple hundred bucks suddenly won't seem like that big of a deal.

AZZKICKER

heehee well i did both
couther strike is my game of choice by the way

now on with the drama

took the new AXIA back today and we put it in there test bed and ran the crap out of it

guess what...worked fine
put it in anouther machine and worked fine

now putting my 950 that has ran 1200 for 6 months now will only do 1133

@ 1200 it does the same thing as the new AXIA

so now i have to figure out whats bad in my system now because the chip took more than itself

so tonight i will be taking it ALL the way down to a bear case

replace all case fans...check boith power supplys

visual board. and cards and RAM

the put everything back in one at a time and hope i figure it all out

also my case is FULL of dust ( over 500 CFM going through it) so it will ALL be cleaned ( might help my problem too)

so wish me luck

ill let you guys know how it goes

seems crazy for 9 months now being with AMD i havent had no problems ( except for my A7V haveing stablity problems)

now everyday its something else
!

well i think i figured it out

ill know tomorrow

looks to me that one of my 300 watt power supplys is about dead after i fried that CPU
with one of my 300's it gets to the windows screen with the password and then it reboots ( 300 watt aint enough for a 1200)

the other 300 watt powere supply will only let the chip post and goes no further

so going to the store tomorrow and exchange it ( its under warrenty)

AZZKICKER

ok boys i got the 1200 up and running now

only thing is its running 1133 but thats good because i couldnt get it to do **** before

reason why is when my first AXIA smoked it took out BOTH 300 watt power supplys

just one was under warrenty so all my stuff is running on 1 300 watter and that isnt enough to push it to 1200 ...just like it acted when i had my 950 @ 1200 with only one power supply

now the thing is buissness has been real bad and i cant afford to buy anouther 300 watter right now

so my fellow seniors or anyone else got a 300 watter laying around they could send me and let be get back at a later time to reinburst them would be tottaly AWSOME !

really want to see what this new AXIA will do...

im kind of bumbed that the store that sold me the 1200 that burnt up and fried my power supplys wont let me have a loaner or nothing

they suck

That's strange, I can run my 1ghz AXIA at 1450mhz fine with one 300 watt psu.

When people use two PSU are they just using one for drives and one for the motherboard, or are they spliceing the ATX connectors together to provide the motherboard with the power of both PSU's

I am betting the first, but was wondering if anyone has tried the later. Basic DC supply theory says it would work, but because they are switching PSU's with the transistors and bridge rectifiers I have my doubts.

AZZKICKER

you lost your bet

mine is @ the ATX connectoor

every wire

AZZKICKER
