I bought two heatsinks, one from cooler master (EP5-6I11 (http://www.coolermaster.com/home.html)), and one from Global WIn (CAK38 (http://www.globalwin.com.tw/cd_html.html)). Im running a T-Bird AXIA 1333 @ 1333 and I get the following temps when I'm just sitting in the BIOS staring at temperatures for a while -

CAK38 - 56 C
EP5-6I11 - 48 C

Can someone PLEASE tell me why a $40 solid copper cooler is getting beaten by a cheap $12 cooler made out of alluminum? People all arround the net have managed to get the CAK38 to do 42-44 with a 1333 T-Bird. Why cant I? Also, are either of these temperatures listed high? Under a heavy load (CS for an hour), my CAK38 keeps my CPU at 60 or 61. Is that too high also?

PS - My MOBO is an MSI K7-Master (6341) and I installed both with arctic silver II and I changed the fan on the CAK38 to a sunon with slightly better specs than the fan on the coolermaster

Did you look at the bottom of the "heatsinks" when you removed them? If they are not seated properly, they will give you those readings. Make sure you are getting even seating on the heatsink and CPU. You might also consider lapping the heatsink. They are rarely smooth and flat.

it will be pretty scratched if you used to coarse of a grain sandpaper- try using 600/800/1200 grit, and that should give you the mirror finish that u desire
