View Full Version : AMD K6-2 300
I'm wondering if someone could help out a clueless little guy like me on how to basically overclock an AMD K6-2 300Mhz CPU. About how fast could I get it to go and will it be stable?
Please email me at mcstay@iprimus.com.au

The k6-2 are not good overclockers, but good luck. I got my brothers k6-2 333 to post at 540 2.8v.
If you need help on adjusting multiplyiers and such i'll be glad to help, what mobo are you using?

I had a K6-2 300 oc'd to 350 on a MSI 5169 board that had the Ali Aladin 5 chipset. I ran it at that speed for 2 years and now it lives in my cousins box. 4 years and still pumping away with 2.2v. I tried to go higher but it never ran stable. This is before I got into watercooling....I wonder what it would do with water?

On my old ASUS P5A, I got my K6-2 300 (100) running at 400MHz. I increased the voltage from 2.2v to 3.0v. Then I plugged a Duron fan over the cpu and added some thermal compound. The heat was messured and was 53c at room temp. Not bad for 3volts! My final setting was (100MHz x 4.0)
Good Luck Bro!
