Heya,
For my high school senior project I am building a 1.4GHz TBird system and I am running into a few problems, mainly with cooling (I've never build or moded a system before)
I am getting an Antec SX 1030-1040 Fileserver Look at it if you need to (http://www.antec-inc.com/product/cases/sohoser.htm)) Case with a large front air vent in the front with 2 front fans and 2 rear fans (all 80mm). It will be running off of a 300W (400W if I go with 1040). I will be running 256MB of DDR PC1600 a Radeon Vivo 64MB DDR and 3 20.4 gig Seagate HD's. All this is running off of an Asus A7A266 Motherboard with the Ali Magik 1 chipset (anyone got a comment about that, I'm not sure about it 100%)
Here is my problem though. I need to figure out how to cool this puppy down. Currently I am planning on putting a blue orb on my GPU and I think the hard drives will be fine with the 4 case fans circulating air through. The CPU however I am not quite sure about. I was thinking of ether running The Swiftech MC462-A or The Swiftech Watercooling System. I am not sure about the heatsink because it will be blowing all the hot air into the case which will most likely already be plenty hot. As far as water cooling goes I like the idea, have the money, but am a bit concerned with Condensation etc. etc. Also since I will be doing a presentation with/on this computer I would like to mod it a bit so that I can get a few Ooo's and Aww's from the judges for my advantage. As far as this goes I will get an oval window (not an issue) but I will also be getting a neon light for the inside.
After all of this and the crap load of stuff that will also be in this dream system (DVD,CD-R,Zip,5.1 CL sound card, and a NIC), will I need over a 300W power supply? If so will a 400W cut it?
If anyone can give me a tip or answer of any sort I would be very gratefull. Thank you.
