Hardcore Cooling (http://www.hardcorecooling.us) has WinBond BH-5's for $109-$10= $99 with that "SAVBH5" coupon. It's sold as PC3500 CAS 2.0 and does PC3700 as everyone knows or faster.
I'd say this is an excellent price considering it's the same as Corsair and stuff @ 140 a stick.
Cheers

Hardcore Cooling has offered their version of generic BH-5 memory for some time. But I don't think anyone has yet to purchase it and write-up any sort of review here. So it's a guinae pig issue, who is willing to cough up $100 to purchase it. Not all generic memory is necessary bad (Komusa's offering with A-DATA 4ns chips being an example), but it's still a question mark. HardcoreCooling.us is a good company, and support is decent.

PCB quality plays a factor in memory performance too.

Yeah... and them selling pc2700 ram as bh5 but putting it under heatspreaders with strategically placed warrantee stickers so you can't prove that it isn't bh5 without voiding your warrantee. That plays a factor in memory performance also.

I'm going to be buying memory soon and I want 512mb stick that can do 3200 speed.
Should I buy this stick? I don't really want to spend more than $110-120.
Any other recommendations? Currently looking at the Buffalo BH-5 512mb sticks on newegg for $99.
Thanks a bunch

1GB (2x512MB) of Kingston HyperX PC3000 costs only $220 from Newegg, which is $110 per 512MB. These should use either Winbond BH-5 or BH-6 chips, both of which overclock very similar, and both of which overclock, generally, better then Winbond's CH-5 chip. They should be more then capable of running 200-220MHz at 2-2-2 timings.
Also, if Buffalo PC3700 512MB is not, in fact, basically out-of-stock (with BH-5) then I would suggest that. For $99 it's a better buy then generic HardcoreCooling "BH-5" memory.

Those BH-5's I mentioned don't come with heat spreaders so you can SEE they are BH-5 chips.

Considering that Buffalo is the same price I'll just wait for it to come back.
EDIT: Its actually cheaper. The hardcore stuff is 108 now.

It's $108.99 - $10 Coupon = $98.99. It's also black-sheep ram, that could be good, could be crap, or could just be mediocre.
I don't believe the Buffalo PC3700 is coming back, at least not in any amountable quantity.

The buffalo will be back but with Micron chips not the bh-5 :(
I've bought memory from hardcore-cooling before. To me, they are great. My generic memory was spec'd for 200mhz at 2-3-3-7 timing, but I've ran them fine at 200mhz 2-2-2-5 before. I had to lower the fsb for my mobo though...

Well contacted Buffalo directly through my rep and that was confirmed. No more BH-5. Period. The BH-5 chip manufacturer couldn't supply the needed chips so they switched to Micron and "have no current plans to go back at this time".
They also stated that the BH-5 still are manufactured just not at the requested rate.
The official stock timing for the new sticks are 3,3,3,8 @ 400. He also said "we had them up to 500 mhz with the stock timings". :attn:

Newegg has some PC3700 (Winbond Module) 512MB in right now, but I expect it to go back to "Out-of-Stock" soon, once again.
A company rep saying, unofficially, that their product will do DDR500 with 3-3-3 timings is like an Intel fanboy saying nothing beats an P4C or P4EE. :D

Hmm. That newegg stock puzzles me. I would like to hear what someone gets from there if they order some now.

Do you guys think I'll be safe buying the 3500 at 109-10=99?
I can't find any other BH-5 ram at that price or +10$, and I'm probably just be running it at 200mhz w/ tight timings.
Thanks

oh tight, the buffalo sticks are in again... are those the ones with BH-5 on newegg though?
(Buffalo Technology 512MB 6 Layer PC3700 DDR Memory Module 32X8 (Winbond Module), DD466-512)
I think I'll be buying these once I get home... any suggestions for cheap but good 80mm fans and a 5.25" fan controller?
Thanks
let me tell you
I just ordered the Buffalo Winbond PC3700 chips from Newegg two days ago. Got them Today, And they sent me MICRON CHIPS. I double checked my receipt to make sure it wasnt a mistake, and checked the SKU# online and it linked me to the Winbond Chips which is what I ordered. This just throws my plan of setting up my PC this weekend before midterms WAY OFF.
And the description says CAS3? So what does that mean? BH-5 cas3's? hmm...

This is what alot of ppl hoped wouldn't happen, but with Buffalo not making any more Winbond-Module PC3700 it was bound to happen I guess. NewEgg should have taken the Winbond-Module listing off, unless they do in-fact have it in-stock. Either way, I would call NewEgg whenever you can and see what can be done about it. If they do have Winbond-Module PC3700 512MB in-stock, you should send yours in for replacement. If they don't, then ask for a refund or consider purchasing Kingston HyperX PC3000 or PC3200 (NON-A). Both roughly the same price as Buffalo PC3700.
All Buffalo PC3700 that used BH-5 chips were stock-rated for CAS 3.0 timings at 233Mhz. Although many had problems with that rating.
is it true the BH-5's are not as good for AMD's cause inability to get tight timings?
Should I get CH-5's or BH-5's?

CH-5s are not good for AMD because an inability to do tight timings.
BH-5s on the other hand are wonderful...
