Giving up fixing computer still freezes.

Im just discussded no one knows how or what the problem is with my computer.I replaced evvvverrrrrryyyyyyyyyyy part in my computer and it still freezes I wana break it with a bat.

Do you have adaquate cooling in your case. This is the most common cause of spontanous lockups. What is your case temp. Don't use the motherboard temp measurer. Go to Radio Shack and buy one of the cheap $5 indoor/outdoor thermonitors. Measure temp 1" from cpu heatsink intake. Use string or be creative to hang it there. Post that temp.

it could be the OS install- if you dont tell manually set the IRQ then it puts all the cards on just a few IRQ's (video,sound,NIC) and that is BAD for some setups. If its win2k hit f6 when it tells you to and mnually set them all to different IRQ's

How old is your windows install? Corrupt window files is the one lockup problem. When you replaced all your hardware did you format and start from scratch? Did you think maybe your hard drive is shot? My buddy had all sorts of lock ups and it turned out to be his piece of crap maxtor hard drive. Dont give up just start from ground zero and rebuild. COOLING IS KEY!

Well I bought a new hard drive and reformated the new hard drive about 2 times alrdy I just uninstalled windows ME and installed windows 98se.My sound blaster card I need to get rid of and get a santa cruz sound card.Im tierd of all the lock ups maybe its the SB live card ,I tried on board sound about 4 motherboards ago and it didn't help.Ty all for the replys I apreciate it dearly guys and gals.

That Mushkin DDR ram is CRAP. Have you switched the ram out yet? I would suggest crucial or the new corsair 2400. If you have tried a different brand of ram, then I maybe wrong but I had a friend that couldnt get 2 boards stable with the Mushkin DDR sticks. He went through the a7m266 and the ka266 thinking it was the board he switched out the ram and it was smooth running,. I would send that junk back for a refund. If it isnt Mushkin, I still wouldnt trust samsung ddr because that is what Mushkin uses in its ram.

That 300w power supply is pushing it also I would suggest a 400w antec.

Freezing computers can be caused by different things as I'me sure you're aware...

Freezing how? Momentary stopping? Or permanent reboot kind of locking?

Causes can range from bad ram to a weak power supply...

Is the freezing repeatable or is it random?

If random, is it frequent, or occasionally like every few weeks or so?

Did you install your OS while the machine was overclocked? This canresult in an unstable OS prone to problems as reported by others...

IRQ conflicts can cause temporary locking as well...

Don't give up yet... There's a reason it's doing this. You'll find it.

It only freezes in games , such as Rainbow Six : Rogue Spear, Tribes2 etc...no where else does it freeze.Btw while playing some times ill get a blue screen I can continue normaly, but I can't acess the internet after this.It locks up like randomly 1 day it will work fine the next it will lock up like crazy.Blue screen occurs only when playing online.

It is either the power supply (very likely) or the ram if it is bluescreening in games. It could be either one. My recommendation is to get rid of the samsung ram and get at least a 400w power supply. THe best on my opinion and what I run is the Antec PP403X 400 watt PSU That is if you have your os installed properly with all the correct patches and AMD patches for your mb. Do you have all the AMD patches applied? If you do, it has to be the powersupply or the ram . Did you replace these? You said you swapped everything out so I am assuming so.

Virtual memeory is really slow. But yes you could do it.

Well Im not gona sell my 1.33Ghz Chip yet I wana see if it overclocks better then my 1.4 cause If I can reach 1.7Ghz with my 1.33 then i will be puting it up for sale about $150 bucks if not then it will most likely be up for sale for like $120-130.Im a geek lol.Im not using the virtual memorey on my other hard drive because I had funky colors with my ram set at 20000by20000 max and min for the D drive so I put everything back to normal.My chip freezes if I overclock to 1.53Ghz 10.5x146 when I goto rogue spear as soon as I get to the menu it freezes, I put it at 10.5x135 now 1417mhz and it runs better I duno if its my PSU or ram holding me back.Im gona convince my dad I need new ram 2 sticks of 256mbs crucial lol im a lil spoiled brat but I want my comp not to freeze maybe ill settle for 1 if he says I can get 1 stick of 256mbs ddr.

Did you try opening the side of the case and sticking a floor fan next to it? I had lockups in games and CD burning for months because I couldn't figure out what it was. It was heat.

hmm i use to have this problem on my intel machine.......it works fine after i replaced the drivers on the system ...i have tried 10 formats just because i cant play rogue spear.......hope thiso helps..........

Man this suc*ks comp wont run a bench mark without freezing at its normal speed I give up AMD u win or what ever is breaking my comp.I think my geforce3 does this.

Should have bought the Dell man . If you arent willing to at least switch out power supplies or ram no one can help you. You already have at least two people telling you what the problem most likely is is so you can try to fix it or next time head for Gateway country.

I'm guessing it's the ram. You could even try something the the ASUS A7V133, so you could use sdram. I'm not so sure about the stability of DDR. Just trying to help out.

i had a similar problem, all i had to do was reset the bios to optimal and then it was fine, i think it was the 4-way interleave.

I just orderd last night at 11:53pm 2 x 256mbs Crucial PC2100 non-ecc ram fedex overnight. Which didn't come to my house yet I guess monday = ( im pist. I hope the ram does it cause im tierd of fixing this piece of ****.I can't even overclock I can get it to post at 1917mhz but I can't boo into windows and run ok unless im at 1500mhz or less = (.I think im gona wind up geting a 430 watt psu too or just puting in my 1.33Ghz AXIA-Y I got from AMD = ).

and 300 watt isnt enough by a long shot

get a ANtec 400 watt at leat
or get a entermax 400+ watter

im going through it right now

when my AXIA burnt for no reason it took both my 300 watt antec power supplys out

running a 1200 axia @ 1133 right now because with 2 cd roms 2 7200 rpm drives in RAID and 1 5400 drive
and 2 sticks of ram, g force2 64 meg, nic, sblive, and 11 fans....my 300 is at its limmits

one was covered under warrenty and is the only reason im ale to run this machine

Well man I got a smaller setup then you and I tried an AT 233 watt power supply and my 300watt psu with my setup and it still freezes I give up AMD wins . Well this might sound stupid but azzkiker if ur in the usa can I call you maybe you can help me get my pc up and runing stable without freezing during games I got gg longdistance well.. my dad does lol.I can't take it any more my Dad can't afford another pc or anything we brought it to 2 stores they duno wtf it is either and they said they hate amd lol.Plz could you help me im lost man I have so manyparts but nothing will stop my freezing.Thx

Just remembered something that happened to my friend once, no my friend isn't me. I wouldn't burn windows!!!

My friend, installed 98SE off a burned CD and the crap crashed all the time, he got so fed up. He ended up replaceing tons of parts, RAM, PSU, motherboard, chip, etc. Format after format, he then tried 98SE on a real CD, and it all worked! All the lockups went away. Probably not the most common reason, but worth a shot. Burned CD slowly degrade, so take it into consideration.

And, no I am not saying you burned windows, just saying sometimes burned CD crap out

Azz kiker helped me narrow down the problem. Its my power supply its only feeding about 150 watts to the CPU when I need 180 for a 1.4Ghz cpu.

how do you find out how much watts your ps is feeding the cpu?

As far as I know, there is no real way but to get a testing meter and test the powersupply for load wattage. Most powersupplys should be able to put out more than 10% extra than what there rated. So a 200watt powersupply should be able to handle loads up to even 220watts. The watt rating is just a peak standard at what the psu was tested. Going behond this spec overloads the powersupply which results in more heat and possible shortage.
