I got my T-bird AXIA Athlon running at 1400MHz (133x10.5) and I was wondering a bit about the heat. It gives me the following,
1.85v/3.40v (1.89v/3.44v in bios screen). In Abit KT7A-R Menu
55c MAX Core
27c MAX M/B
The room temperature is 24c.
I'm using a superORB and was wondering if my temperature would go under 50c if I put a Thermalright SK-6 on? I also have two 80mm fans blowing directly onto the cpu from the panel.
HELP
I think if you went from that Super orb to an Sk6 it would be a pretty safe bet your temps would come down a substantial amount. Your Vcore seems a little high an AXIA 1Ghz I run my AXIA 1 GHz up to 1400 mhz at 1.75 Vcore and it's rock stable after 1400 mhz then I have to start upping the vcore. Try lowering yours it will reduce temps. If it isn't stable at 1.75 then bump it up in the smallest increments you can untill it is if your under the vcore you are at now it will help lower cpu temps some. I would definitley get rid of that ORB they just don't cut it for overclocking.

That is quite hot for that setup. I have not heard many good things about the Orb, I just wish they would stop selling them. The sk-6 is a good cooler. It should to the job. Are your two 80mm fans both blowing in? One in the front should be blowing in and one in the back blowing out. Have you modified your registry with H Oda's WPCRedit? You can get the info at http://www.tweakfiles.com. I hope this helps.

Ok, I brang the core voltage down to 1.800volts and this is the new heat temperature,
1.80v/3.40v (1.84v/3.44v in bios screen). In Abit KT7A-R Menu
54c MAX Core
28c MAX M/B
The room temperature is now 25c thou so it basically put everything up 1c.
So, basically, that .050volts lowers the temperature 2c. Not bad I guess so now its about 53c max at 24c room temperature. Here is a picture of my desktop with max heat made!

keep the vcore at 1.8, yes get that SORB off there if you get a SK6 youll not only be under 50 but maybe under 40c-those HS are awesome-also use artic silver 2 and with some good lapping you should be aroune 36c-which would let you up the vcore more and get a higher overclock

We do think alike Jason.

WHAT EVER YOU DO
WHEN YOU TAKE THE ORB OFF...BE CAREFULL!!!!!!!!!
there bad...SUPER BAD about braking cores when removing them
go for the copper man i promase your t bird will be nice and cool
I prefer the Golden Gate / Gladiator (http://svcompucycle.com/), but the SK6 is a fine hsf that will get your temps down a lot. With Artic Silver 2 you could easily lose 5-10 degrees.
