Nope. AMD and Intel stopped using the same / compatible socket back at socket 7 days. Socket 478 is the latest iteration for the P4. Socket A, aka 462, is for AMD processors, although they are going to a new socket design with their 64 bit processors (2 sockets?).
The next Intel socket is 775, I hv forgotten about AMD.
AMD is switching to socket 754, 939, and 940, for different versions of the K8 core.
