View Full Version : Cooling & case fans
I recently installed an AMD 1.33 & ABIT KT7A mobo. Now, I run the system with one side of my case off (always have .. I usually face this open side against the wall so no "things" crawl in there).
Does having the side of the case provide enough cool air? Or should I think about putting a fan in the rear to exhaust warm case air as well as "suck" in cool air.
I've been running seti@home for the last hour or so and my CPU temp is stable at 55 C & case temp is 36 C.
I have a FOP32-1 by the way.
If you have the room I would put a fan in back blowing out and the one on the bottom comming in. Get the largest CFM fans you can mount in your case.I would put the case sides on just to make sure that nothing does get in.

First off, this should have been posted in the cooling section, not the AMD CPU's. Just a bit of advice for the new members, go to the general discussion section and read the post about general posting rules.
By the way, Hab and JRbob, welcome to the forums and hope you get something out of them. Enjoy.
Now back to your question. Put a 120mm or 92mm fan blowing in the bottom front of the case and a similar in the top rear blowing out. If the PSU is in the way cut a blowhole in the top of the case to suck out the heat. It works for me.

First thing you need to find out what ur room temp is if when you did this test it was 36c then adding fans ant gonna do a thing for you! ,
So take the room then and do the test and if ur case is hotter that the room temp then ur answer is yes you need to add fans, 8-)
Now i would recommend adding 80 to 92 mm fans as anything larger is to loud! i would also stick with fans like summons or one similar you could add delta fans but be warned these are loud! ;D
i would put 2 on the side at the bottom and 2 at the top of the case (right on the top ) this will act like a chimney, :-)
hope this helps! ^_^
